Twitch's Online Coop mod is running along smoothly, so I thought I'd make a thread for suggestions for some new minigames. Of course, we discussed having a CTF minigame, but multiplayer Spelunky opens up many more new ideas. Here are some examples... Capture the Flag/Idol/Crystal Skull/Damsel: Two teams (of one?) try to grab the other team's flag or whatever and return it to their base. Fun. Race: Players have to get through a number of levels in a time period, and rather than taking damage, if you get hurt by an enemy or fall damage, you just get delayed. Deathmatch: You can battle with your friends, stun them with whips, throw rocks at them, anything to win. Custom Level Challenge: This one should have been obvious - you play through some custom levels that are designed for two players. These levels would probably be community-made, like regular levels. Moar ideas?

Its not as spammy as it seemsOK. Hopefully people will agree. Anyway.. Money Competition: Both players get the same randomly-generated level, and have to get as much money as they can. They don't show up on each other's screen, though, and what happens in their level stays in their level. No ghost appears, and no damage is taken. Instead, damage reduces the current amount of money that you have. There is a timer of 2:30 though, so when the ghost would have come, the game ends. No exit, either. (Also, I cant think of a better title.  ) Kill-fest: Both players start in a level (Doesn't have to be randomly generated) with a timer of 2:30. Both players are shown on each other's screen. Enemies will randomly spawn in the level, and the player with the most kills after 2:30 wins. Each player is a "Ghost" (Can't hurt/touch each other). Race (Counter-idea): Both players get the same randomly-generated level, and whoever finishes it first wins. Enemies stun you for 3 seconds, and fall damage stuns you for 5 (To make people more careful, and slow. MWUAHAHAHA.) I'll edit this if I get more ideas, unless someone else posts, but i can't think of any more at the moment.

I thought about the money collecting one (my name for it was Treasure Hunt) but didn't mention it, though your version sounds better. Same with Race. Hostage Rescue: A bit like Counter-Strike, one side is Spelunker (or TM) and the other is Shopkeeper. Spelunker has to rescue the Damsel from the Shopkeeper's area. Spelunker gets, oh, I don't know, a machete and some bombs, while Shopkeeper gets a shotgun. Speaking of Counter-Strike... Bomb Defusal: One side, Terrorist, has to blow up an area of the level, and Counter-Terrorist's objective is, surprisingly, to stop it. Terrorist gets one sticky bomb to use, and some items are found around the level to use.

Ha. Counter-Strike was legendary.  Anyway.. They're good ideas, too. Treasure hunt! This was the kind of name I was hunting for. Eh? EH?  Fine, bad puns aren't funny. You happy? So.. That bomb thing should be more like "Search and Destroy" from call of duty. Search and Destroy: One player has a sticky bomb, but it isn't usable. Ill explain in a sec. Anyway.. That player has to get to the other player's base and plant the sticky bomb there. This is why it isn't usable.. Now, to plant the bomb, you have to press A at the bomb site. Maybe to represent activating the bomb your player gets stunned for about three seconds. Maybe have multiple bomb sites, though.. Also, each player starts with a pistol.. The ways to win, are: Eliminate other player, Blow up enemy's bomb site, or defuse the bomb (press a at the bomb site, also get stunned, and the bomb doesnt get defused for 3 seconds). Each player has.. 10 HP? The players can drop their weapons and open crates that may contain better weapons, or may just contain a rock or something, and both players have three ropes. Ropes can be used as a weapon if you're very skilled with them.. Anyway, there may be a couple holes here, but they can probably easily be filled. I just cant be bothered setting my brain power to 100% to think this up. Anyway, yeah. Just shootin' ideas out here. Not trying to write anything in stone.

Survival
All the players have 4 health, no tools, no weapons, and cannot hurt each other or enemies in any way, but the enemies can still hurt them Enemies start spawning and get stronger and stronger over time. The last one still alive wins.

deathmatch
Both players fight each player has 10 hp and starts with a whip. Better weapons can be found in crates or from killing another player with a better weapon. Last one standing wins

I'll agree to disagree. If it's related to a work in progress that has its own thread, keep it to one to reduce thread count. It's already out, though, so please try not to make any more co-op threads.

It's already out, though, so please try not to make any more co-op threads. Why, thank you, Mister Mod, for your relevant and useful comment.  This is pretty off-topic, but hey, so was the post I'm quoting: 'tis a she.  Edit: This isn't as spam-tastic as it seems. This doesn't have to only be for the Online Co-op mod. Someone else could make a mod for these fun Vs. modes, but maybe on one computer or something? Maybe it can be put into the Multiplayer Mod? So, if these ideas are open to anyone, then no, it's not as spamalicious than you thinkalink.  (Yay for playing with words.  )

More like a juggernaut feature, then. And yes, Patrick, I am a she.
Juggernaut: One player will start out as the Spelunker with 8 HP, whose objective is to reach the end of the level. If he dies, the player who killed him / touched him last (In the event of dying due to falling/spikes/traps/etc.). If he gets through 8 areas successfully, he will face Olmec, controlled by the player who dealt out the most damage to the player. Whoever kills the Spelunker becomes him, and the game resets with roles swapped. The only thing I'd be concerned about, though, are the player roles.
The spelunker: Just the regular spelunker, but with 8 HP.
Enemy roles:
Spider - Can only move one direction mid-jump. Snake - Must always be moving, and is obviously slower. Caveman - Can use aggro when Spelunker is on-screen. ManTrap - Must always be moving as well. Monkey - Same characteristics. Pirahna - Not really much use.
*The always moving rule has to be in effect to stop campers.

Juggernaut, my version: People team up to take down the Juggernaut before the time limit ends, who has 8 HP and a shotgun, while the other players have 4 HP and pistols. When a player kills the Juggernaut, he becomes the Juggernaut. The player who is the Juggernaut when the time limit is over wins.

I like this idea better, however, I think the mod is only 2 player. It could still work, but it'd be pretty unfair. If it is going to work though, I'd suggest no stun time.. No flying across the screen.. It just takes your health down straight away. And if one of the 4HP players die, what would happen?
