Now that some enticing artwork has been displayed, it's time to wet Derek's whistle. Since I don't believe a price has been reached at this early juncture, some field research could help immensely. How much are you willing to shell out for this updated version of Spelunky. (note you do not need to own an xbox to vote, this is simply to gauge what the community thinks it should be worth, everyone can vote)

Rather than doing point to dollar conversions, I left it in monetary value because I don't feel like doing the math. Keep in mind though that a 1600 point card is $19.99.

Yeah but the problem is that now you have just made the vote an awful lot more  specific. I find it hard to estimate the real value of e.g. $10-$15 in £(pounds) or €(euros).

I voted for $10-$15, without knowing particular inflation differences between the US(presumably) and here, but yeah, I'd be prepared to pay around £10-£15 for Spelunky XBLA.

I have recently opted to purchase a PS3 and sell my Xbox purely because all my friends have PS3s, but I am still reluctant to do it for some reason...

exchange rate is:
1.00 U.S. Dollar = 0.7361 Euro
1.00 U.S. Dollar = 0.6666 British Pound

So basically about 3/4 of the dollar price per pound/euro. (sorry I honestly didn't think about the confusion of this at all  Embarrassed)

There is also a microsoft points converter, but it's very wrong. Converts to one cent per point.

Pounds are evil. That's why there are so many 6's.

And I said 15 dollars. Usually the games are about 8 to ten dollars on PSN (The good games), but it's spelunky so I'd be willing to spend more.

That depends, actually.

How does Spelunky differ in XBLA from the original? (Besides graphics)

I thought the way you buy arcade games like this cost Microsoft Points, not real money. Although I guess you have to pay real money to get those Microsoft Points..

Well either way, I'm happy -- I have 2000+ Microsoft Points ready. I got 3000 for Christmas last year. Smiley

P.S - Has it occurred to anyone that once the game is released in the XBLA, the forums will probably get swamped with newcomers?

Admittedly, it did sound like I hated the idea..

But It's good and bad.
It will bring more people to the forum probably.. (Good thing)
But half of those people could be jackasses.. (Good thing. Just joking. Terrible thing.)

Heh.. This is funny. We're kind-of going off-topic here, yet we're still fully on-topic. Talking about XBLA Spelunky, but not what it costs.

Anyway.. Yeah, it has the chance of being 100% good, but I doubt it. Every forum has to have it's jackasses..
Well, doesn't have to.. Just normally does.

I just like the community the way it is, y'know?

There's basically no jackasses here. There may possibly be one or two.. But that's about all.

Well, when the XBLA version does launch, I'd highly recommend to Derek that he get some mods going.

P.S - I voted >20$. Smiley

Edit: I seem to be posting rapidly in this thread.. I'll try to resist replying to new posts for a bit.

800 MS points would mean day 1 purchase for me. I don't buy 1200 point games since I consider that price point too high.
