I'm planning to, once that I learned enough C++ (and aquire a working watcom version of sdl), I'm planning to try to port Spelunky to that programming language and release it as open source. That way, not only people can make more advance mods out of my project using a powerful yet difficult programming language, but they can also make unofficial ports of the game! What do you think?

2) Wouldn't you say it's already open source?
3) Well we could make more powerfull mods if we know c++

1) I dont have a dsi (I'm a South African)
2) I don't have enough money.
3)I don't have enough money for the commercail version of sdl.
4) Even if I could do this, I'd still need permission for it to be release on that platform (both from derek and nintendo.

dude nintendo well give it out to ANYONE.

I mean it. anyone. even if the game is gliched. there where 3 wii games that DIDN"T WORK and they got threw

And you don't need a dsi game for that.

So all you would need is derek's permission, which he would most likely give if you worked a deal out with him

 Grin  Yeah!  I'll suport you on that project!!  BTW naysayers, c++ is really not all THAT far off from what were doing here.  It just looks more complex and requires alot more setting up. But, I'm sure if you went thought with the project that you would inspire alot of people here to learn the new language...  I'm looking at you gummy.  Please do it Karjam! and keep us all posted along the way.  and if you want help with anything, from coding to extracting resources, help learning/understanding something and anything else, don't hesitate to hit us up!

Thanks, guys! Though I'll only start when I learn c++ (via the book that I'm still waiting for (Sans teach yourself c++ in 21 days fith ed). I'll also do it when I can get sdl to work on open watcom. So, don't expect it to come early. In the meantime, feel free to go offtopic in this topic.

I'll start: do you know why I named my future project "See? Spelunky!"?
