Oh how I love Minecraft, when it works. It seems I've finally been able to get a world I like enough to keep playing, even after hitting redstone. I even decided to actually try and use redstone a bit, took a lot of replacing and retrying but managed to get a switch that *gasp* opens a door! Yeah, mostly because I wanted to hide the wire in the walls since the door is a hidden door to my treasure room! Speaking of which:

Other than that, my cavern-home is coming along well. The above-ground brick home, not so much I get caught up doing stuff underground and rarely even leave. Here's some other beautius shots from my house:

Just want to show I know what I'm doing, it took long enough. Still have to finish the outside house (will be very simple, just for appearances) and the resurrection shrine. I'll need to die to be sure where exactly the respawn spot is, tried to mark it when I started but it had floating sand underneath which caved in under my feet.

Well if I make a video, I'll be sure to talk in a British accent just to confuzzle you. I do like pretending to be British, or at least my Americanized movie-version of British.

Also that's the creative mode, probably back when water would flood the whole map if you let it. I remember taking down a mountain when I was building the Nell sprite and taking a half-hour to place sponges everywhere to soak it up.

Also also, it's much scarier in Alpha since there are actually light sources, that whole underwater area would be pitch black.

Do it. I love British accents, I would find a way to stuff some British slang/phrases into this sentence, but I can't think of anything right now... once wrote a comment on deviantART that was entirely British slang though, mocking another person's choice of words because they used the most generic phrasing, it was quite funny

At first I thought there were already lightsources in that vid but Im pretty sure now that that was just drawdistance that made it fade out like it did



Also nice to see the all the images, the "this hole was made for me" shot made me laugh, one wonders how to create a texture set like that though... I bet with the right program it would be stupid easy, I mean it is just super low polygon models with some 8-bit-ish pixel art, I bet if I knew how i could make some cool crap (why havent any of you made a spelunky texture set [outside of kirbylords skin])

Also idk when I'll get to it (I havent actually played minecraft sine my first time with it) but I plan on doing a few things, first being leveling the mountain beside my house (its more of a hill in comparison to other mountains) dig a giant 10x10 well where the hill used to be, make one of those circus style high dives where you jump off the top and land in a small pool of water... but remove the water so its essentially a suicide jump (idk why i want to make this but it would go right near the spawn point) a large pyramid in the beach area and finally i wanna experiment with water and try to get a house that has water on the top of it that goes down each side and into a mote, or at least over the door way so you have to walk through the water to get in

im not sure if the physics will allow that but ive seen similar stuff happen in X's LP of the game so I should be good

Ptmc: Sorry, I wasn't trying to be misleading, but that post is from quite a while back. I'm not even sure if it would work anymore, but it was from the old creative mode, which is intensely inferior to the current Alpha. To play the multiplayer version as it stands you do actually have to purchase the full game. Sorry about that, but if you do end up getting it, and there is enough interest around here, I wouldn't mind setting up a SMP server for Mossy's Mossies this forum.

Bae: You know you can place infinite water sources yourself with buckets right? Though I don't recommend putting it over your door unless you plan on using it as an exit-only. The current is pretty strong and a real pain to fight against, I had an entrance behind a waterfall once and it was not as fun as it seemed.

Also, there was a texture pack made using Spelunky's graphics and it appears it's being revamped too. I'm using my sort of Tunnel Man skin right now, but I'll probably make a Shoppy instead, since that's my boy.

You know you can place infinite water sources yourself with buckets right? Though I don't recommend putting it over your door unless you plan on using it as an exit-only. The current is pretty strong and a real pain to fight against, I had an entrance behind a waterfall once and it was not as fun as it seemed.

It was actually made originally for creative mode, which hasn't had an update in a long time. So no redstone, snow, chickens/cows, doors, basically anything great. Though it did have colored cloth, which I can't wait to be added to Survival.

He also apparently doesn't deserve the credit of making a Spelunky texture pack, since he credits the original artist as Daniel Yu and hasn't corrected it!

I meant Derek doesn't go by two names and it's not his brother, unless I'm ridiculously mistaken. Adding I doubt we would be just now hearing about it since Derek is pretty well known among Indie gamers. (reading it now I was confused as well *rolleyes*)

Bottom line, I believe the guy doing the Splunkcraft texture simply mistyped Derek's name or something.

In other news, Notch is moving (has moved?) to a new server and Minecraft seems to be up again for now at least. Check his blog for a nice link to PC gamers exclusive look at the new 'hell' dimension, sounds sweet! Scary sweet!

So I started looking for new texture packs with the added function of switching on the fly. Checked out a few and liked Quantas and the gameboy textures. Then I started a new world to play around with them. First day while searching for coal I start hearing zombie groans, like a lot of zombie groans.

After setting up house and digging a basement, to get some stone over night, I keep hearing them from the basement, eventually I found the zombie dungeon and spent quite a while (and a life) trying to set up a feather factory. Finally with that done I thought "that'll shut those rotting creeps up", yet I keep hearing the groans and grunts every time I'm down there.

Finally I dig around enraged and filled with frustration, pounding at the stone walls and floors trying to drown out the growing headache of dead voices. Then, just under the dungeon, I see it.... another zombie dungeon. An accursed "WTF?" escapes my lips and I think maybe the (single)chest inside holds something worthwile. No, just some bread, redstone, wheat, and a saddle. Angered I destroyed the spawner, I don't need that many damn feathers, I'm not even ticklish!
