Minecraft - Singleplayer excerpts

Notice this is outdated, the server is no longer operational, this thread is more or less about my singleplayer game now, and whatever else comes up
I posted about Minecraft a while back in the freeware games thread, but I just bought (pre-ordered technically) the full version and it's much better than the create section. The only thing is, I was looking through the Minecraft Museum at some quite amazing stuff. So, seeing as the creative mode is free, does anybody want to make a big spelunky love level? I'm thinking about something that looks like a screenshot from the game, Spelunky maybe a spider, a damsel (with help bubble), etc.

So if somebody wants to do it (especially if you have before, I haven't set up any multiplayer stuff yet) let me know.

I don't think I know much about minecraft, is it that game where you go around building stuff?

Yeah,I think that's also the game where you put gems into empty towers and those gems fire at monsters.

Well from reading the description originally (and from what I remember), the guy developing it used to work for a game company and left for some reason. He started developing this game on his own and it will cost 9.99 euros (about $13-14) if pre-order. He's selling pre-orders for half-price so the full will be closer to $30. Personally I think it was worth it for thirteen bucks, I bought Aquaria and Noito Love 2 in the last week too and I've played this more.

Anyway the creative mode is still free, you can make some amazing things there. It's like an entire world of pixel graphic canvas. Here's what I got so far. (colors are limited ATM)

Allright, I've set up a private server, and I can only assume it's working. To get on PM me and I'll add you to the list, you probably need to sign up on the Minecraft forums and send me your user-name from there. I'll respond with the link and hope it works. This is all I've done in it so far. It won't be just Spelunky.

Well I haven't used the sever much, but Infdev has started getting some serious updates!

Anyone who doesn't follow Minecraft I'll bring you up to speed. If you go to the site to play without purchase, you are treated to two modes of play, creative and survival.

In creative you do just that, create. You can choose from a list of all the blocks and build whatever you want, like a big 3D canvas. Survival simply throws lots of enemies down and you see how long you can make it, not really my cup of tea.

Indev and Infdev (soon to be merged) are what the actual game will be. You will mine for materials to craft different tools, weapons, etc.

A few weeks ago Notch (the sole developer) quit his job to work on Minecraft full time. Since then there are basically daily updates to the game, which is awesome!

More recent updates include: flowing water (previously static) ladders, signs, more interesting caves, and just today secret. Basically it's getting much better and is still available at half price while in development.

I'm reviving this rather than starting another new Minecraft topic:

It's hard to believe that post was only six months ago, Notch has come a long way in such a short time and Minecraft becomes increasingly impressive. I'll be showing off my world stuff here so as not to go off-topic in Mars or TO's threads.

I would change the title but this post leads me to believe it's still relevant:

I'm convincing Damsel to make a Damsel skin, and I made a Tunnel Man a while back. Though it really just looks like an afro dude  , but the three of us together would be seriously epic. (you should know how much I hate that word too, only in moderation)

We shall create a cave system unparalleled to any others which have preceded it. Our new community will include underground tree farms, and each area of Spelunky will be represented (get an OP to cheat us in some Ice/snow). Once finished it shall be the envy of all who dare to gaze upon the magnificence which shall be dubbed......

MOSSWORLD!

Mostly though it will be about my single-player worlds like:

And the return of slimes! I really missed them.

Well if I make a video, I'll be sure to talk in a British accent just to confuzzle you. I do like pretending to be British, or at least my Americanized movie-version of British.

Also that's the creative mode, probably back when water would flood the whole map if you let it. I remember taking down a mountain when I was building the Nell sprite and taking a half-hour to place sponges everywhere to soak it up.

Also also, it's much scarier in Alpha since there are actually light sources, that whole underwater area would be pitch black.
