First person (what you and MGG are talking about) simply wouldn't work for a game like this, if it were me (and it may actually be me) I would make it third person like in Sim War V.
Even if it was a very think 2-d style game?

I just had an idea. 3d spulunky, with 2d areas that you can jump back and forth from.

Whenever I try to look at a tutorial made by YoYoGames, they always use the dumb actions. They never teach you any code.
I tried looking at the 3D tutorial; didn't work nice.

Just use the code verson of the actions, it's not hard to find them
(I like drag and drop...)

I KNOW I've mentioned Derek's GM tutorials (that actually use GML code) many times already. I am NOT going to go find it again, even if you ask.
Use the forum's search, you'll find it somewhere around here.
