^ Might pehaps be too MMORPG-focused Generally, in strategy games, I am a more conservative sort of player, which is why I love the Total War series. I prefer to sit back, build up my economy, get all the cool upgrades, then get a relatively small but expensive highly ranked/upgraded army to well, own everyone. Although that strategy sometimes falls apart, I have noticed it works in most strategy games I have played. And very well, too, although still, I can only be general in this sort of subject. Other types of games have many different variations... way too many to list, or create a general strategy for.

Note these:
Spade- Discoverer. Diamond - Achiever. Heart - Socialerer. Club - Beateruper.

I'm guessing "Forums of Loathing". I know you said MMORPG focused, but I COULD associate a few options with other games.. Like.. Console games, like Call of Duty? ;P 'Cos if it's for Call of Duty and stuff, I'm a team player. I know that's not exactly a choice, but yeah. I sacrifice my kill streak / life to help my team win. Of course, when I'm in Free for All, I'm aggressive. But this is just call of duty. My style is different depending on the game -- In call of duty, I'm normally 100% team player. But there are a few other choices that I could associate with other games that aren't MMORPG. So.. Yeah.

Three more types added! - The purist - and yes, I am aware that pure in RuneScape terms is one who levels
- The aggressor (thanks Hayden, I forgot this very important type of online gamer)
- The goof-off(thanks, marsgreekgod)
Following Hayden's comment, I renamed 'The Leader' to 'The Team-Player'. Thanks. Looks like most of you are patient, not power-hungry like me, which makes you more than fit to play stealth games and most tactical shooters. The difference between the economists and the conservatives (n strategy games, at least) is that often in a strategy game, I spend time collecting money to buy upgrades for the sake of it. I don't like suffering attacks to my kingdom which happen over time, and I know I can often beat the enemy without all those upgrades, but I just can't help it, dammit.

I don't think you'd be on this forum if you were part of the 'great unwashed'... which is totally fine, of course.

Hey! I took a shower....once... I remember my hair got wet! It was horrible! But yeah, I am completely turned off by online games, particularly MMORPGs (just typing it hurts). I'm also allergic to WoW, I don't mind discussing single player games with other fans, but don't play well with others.

In most games I make my own meta-game, especially if I'm not very good at the main game.
ie: COD: Modern Warfare 2 - 90% percent of my kills are with riot shields.
ie: Garrysmod: Survival - I chop down all of the trees in the map, and sell the seeds for other resources.

LOL, I agree with you completely, because that's what I'm like in Savage as well! I almost always get the 'Biggest MMORPG Fan' award (think of it as a mini-achievement you earn at the end of each game) because I spend the first half an hour of the game or so killing monkeys an other NPCs!
