Indiegames.com is a big fan of Spelunky, apparently. They made an article (with permission from Derek) a while ago about games like Spelunky that don't need an Xbox 360. http://indiegames.com/2012/07/top_10_spelunky-like_games_for.html#moreYes, I realize this isn't technically a Spelunky award, persay, but it's definitely recognition by a major website. Also, note the last result on the first list, halibabica.

I know, some of the choices are pretty stupid. Especially on the last five. It's an indie, and a platformer, I guess.

If you could convince Derek to let you release TLS on steam (and you cut him a profit) you would both be rich.

Anyway, I haven't heard anyone else mention Knytt Underground, been playing that a lot as my temper allows. Today I did a quest which I got a hard disk as the reward, the questgiver described it as having a man and a snake engraved on one side. He goes on to describe how using it let him control a little man who was killing snakes, my first thought was Spelunky and it was confirmed when I saw the icon. It's teeny but you can just make out Spelunky, the title and a snake. I believe Nifflas put some other indie references in there too, but this is the first I found.

Of course, it's based upon user review scores, so Derek's admin status probably only has a passing effect.  Looking through the top couple of pages, is it worrying that I've played them all? ;-;
