I don't think that there's a thread about this yet..? If there is, sorry. ------- Anyway.. I doubt it you'd know what the controls will be right now, but what would you want them to be? Personally, no matter what, I think "X" should be "Whip". That would just be really easy to adjust to, y'know? Maybe throwing items could be "Right Bumper". That would also be easy to adjust to. What should "Run" be? "Left Bumper"? "Left Trigger"? I'm just curious to what controls people would prefer for the XBLA version. You can't blame me, can you? Controls are a very important part of games. Personally, to make the XBLA version of Spelunky better, they could make the controls customizable, like the PC version. Anyway.. Share your thoughts. This thread probably doesn't really have much of a point, it's just random spelunky discussion. P.S - If that moving text is annoying, ask me, and I'll remove it. Just making the message clear. Edit: Woo... .. ..200th post. Yay? ..

Right Thumstick Click: Pause A: Whip B:Jump X: Switch Items Left Bumper: Run Back (Select): Bomb ShortCut Start: Rope Shortcut Left Bumper: To buy items at Shops
Worse Yet: I can't change what buttons do what so far!.
MY PREFERRED Layout: A: Jump X: Weapon B: Cycle Items Right Trigger: Run Left Bumper: Bomb Right Bumper: Rope Y: Buy from Shop Start: Pause!

Control Pad: move/look/etc. Left Stick: N/A Back: N/A Start: Pause X: Action (whip/throw button) Y: N/A B: Jump A: Item Switch LB: Run LT: Rope shortcut RB: Purchase RT: Bomb shortcut Right Stick: N/A Home: Win game immediately. _________________ Lot's of N/A's, Spelunky could do with a few new moves!

I agree with that. Anyway, nice combinations. I have to admit, they sound quite .. Comfortable. @Arucard: "Home: Win game immediately."? That's.. ..PERFECT! Edit: Actually, there might be some new moves in the XBLA version. Well.. Let's hope so. Edit: Y'know what, I'll post my preferred layout. Control Pad Left: Rope Control Pad Right: Bomb Control pad Up/Down: Look Left Stick: Move Right Stick: N/A Right Stick Click: Crawl until unclicked? Back: Unpause / (If there are menus) Back to main menu Start: Pause / Unpause A: Jump X: Whip, Throw, Shoot, etc. Y: Scroll through bombs/ropes B: Purchase LB: Run LT: Rope Shortcut 2 RB: Throw Item (Alternative Method) RT: Bomb Shortcut 2 .. May need some tweeks.

Where would you get a USB connected-controller? As in, I would like to play Spelunky with a controller.

They are basically all the same, quite a few seem to be based off of Playstation controllers, and as I said: Xbox 360 Wired Controllers can be easily used with your computer.
Well, I don't know about Macs...who knows.

I ought to get me one of those wired 360 controllers. There are so many games on the internet that allow usage of them, that would be much funner.

You can get a Logitech controller for between $10-$30 depending which type you want. 360 controllers are $40 unless you get it used, or an off-brand which may not be quite so compatible (not from Microsoft). Unless you already have a 360 controller, I would recommend Logitech.

Ah, what the heck, I think I would just use the keyboard. Who needs controllers anyway? I never really play video games outside of computer anymore. Spelunky. *Sighs*

I never knew you two knew each other in real life? ..Weird. Now.. Anyway.. I ought to get me one of those wired 360 controllers. There are so many games on the internet that allow usage of them, that would be much funner.

Unless you already have a 360 controller, I would recommend Logitech. I do have a 360 controller. Two, actually. But they're wireless. Is there anything you can maybe download, or something like that, that you might know of, that would allow me to connect my wireless 360 controllers to my laptop? If not, then, I'll consider getting a wired one. Edit: Derek should probably make another forum for XBLA Spelunky. That way he wouldn't have to move heaps of the already-created topics from the "Spelunky" forum to the XBLA Spelunky forum that he probably will create. Well, I can't do anything about it. So.. Yeah. His choice. Hopefully he'll read this.

There is probably a way, but I wouldn't recommend it. I toasted all my USB ports trying to get a PS3 controller to work. It was recognized but didn't respond, and the much easier way around was to just buy a Logitech with analog sticks for what I wanted to do. If you can find a used wired controller in good condition, it's probably about the same price.

I'll avoid trying to use my wireless 360 controller with my laptop then. I'll just avoid getting controllers for my laptop all around. I'll just use my friendly old keyboard and my good ol' "Lasts a year on one battery" mouse.
