You shoot the bomb in mid-air as the spelunker hits it.  The bomb explodes in mid-air.  The spelunker is baffled.

Nevertheless, he prepares another bomb.

There it a noticable area where a bomb evidently exploded.  The other spelunker and damselrus are nowhere to be seen.

Your Jetpack is out of batteries or whatever it runs on.  You'll have to wait a while for it to recharge.

Also, your mission was to get a test subject.  Too bad he's full of holes and dead.  You'll either have to fish this one out, or find another.
