I bet we could do it. However, it would end up requiring a new world, a more horizontal one, with more open space, and.....
Never mind, that would be a different game. Has anyone started using spelunky's source to make a entirely different game yet?

Really, this was just an idea that popped into my head that I almost immediately snuffed out. Similar to what someone said, It would be as extreme a mod as Half-Life to Portal, or to Team Fortress. It would essentially be a different game. There are more inportant things being done at the moment.
