It's about time someone started a thread about it.

First off, prepare to get stuck in a maze of questions, and read for about 5 minutes, as we must ask: Who has it?

Now:
 a) If you do not own it, do you think you'll get it?
 b) If owned, do you like it or not?

So:
 a) "a)" Why not/When do you think you'll get it/Do you have your hopes high?
 b) "b)" Why do you like it? What do you find special/unique about the game?
 c) "b)" Why do you not like it? What was wrong with it?

And finally, you may discuss.

Yes, I do own and like it. Although there were a few downsides that really got on my nerves. More info below.

I do like it, but as mentioned above, there are a few problems that I really hated.

First of all, they took out Local matchmaking for online play. I'd be willing to bet that over 40% of the people who purchased MW2 were annoyed by the fact that they got rid of Local matchmaking. I know that there are 50+ Petitions on the internet to bring the local search into the game, about 60%+ made by the people of Australia and New Zealand.
The game always mixes you with Americans even if you're in Australia. When you're in a game with an American host, when you your self, are not located in that Country, you get lag. Bad lag. If you're in a game with 7 Australians, and then one american joins, guess who gets to host the match? Ding ding ding. The American. Every time.
Infinity Ward doesn't seem to think about people outside of the U.S, and likes to give Americans the upper-hand in matchmaking.

The second thing that bothers me is strongly related to the above problem:
Treyarch's "Call of Duty: World at War" had local matchmaking! Why take it OUT for Modern Warfare 2!?

Well, apparently, they took it out because they thought that they had improved the matchmaking system to automatically join the game with the best host. They failed miserably. Apparently, they also said they'd "Closely monitor" everyone's opinion, to see whether or not it was beneficial to players outside of the U.S

2 months out, and still no fix, even after all the complaints they received on the first day it came out.
Well, hopefully they'll come around.

Anyway, I do like the game itself. The single player game was fantastic! It was probably the most fun FPS story mode I've played in my time.. Which hasn't been that long, seeing as I'm only 14. Still, I do play a lot of FPS games.

The multi player in the game was great, aside from the lack of local search online.
I loved that you could upgrade perks. That's great fun.

I also very much loved the "Special Ops" mode that came along. I guess after Treyarch released Call of Duty: World at War with a bonus mini-game called "Nazi Zombies", Infinity Ward had to release something extra, too. Spec ops is the perfect fit. I'm hoping that in the downloadable map packs coming out soon, that they'll include new special ops missions to play.

Overall, it's still a great game. 7/10, in my opinion. It would be 9/10, if it had local search.

My game progress is a little bit further than some.
I have it on the Xbox 360, and I have every single achievement for the game.
1000/1000 gamer points. I have also reached 2nd prestige in multiplayer online, without cheating. I know, I'm a T0T41 N3RD. L0Lz.

Nah, not really. I'm just very low on iron which takes away my energy so I'm stuck in the house all day playing games and watching TV. Plus, either way, I hate sports. I don't find them fun.

But anyway, if you have the game on the 360, have Xbox live, and want to Vs me some time, let me know. My Gamertag is in my signature. Add me as you wish, but please, send me a personal message on the Xbox, or on these forums, or both, if you are going to. I normally delete the non-Australian or New Zealand people on my friends list if I don't know them. Unless of course you are Australian and wish to add me. Then feel free to add me without sending the notification. I'd still prefer if you tell me though.

Anyway, I think I am the king of long posts that aren't about the spelunky source on these forums, so I think I should take a break.

So just tell me if you want to play. But if you're non-Australian, one of us will have to have lag. Unless you're from NZ. Then it's fine.

ugh, don't want to send a wall of text response...

It's a greT Gme, and I so far only play it for multiplayer. I would do Single, but it's my younger brother'sgame and he plays single when no on plays multi, plus whenever the 360 is free i've been using the time to play Assassin's Creed 2 (also his game, beat it last night, my last words for the game echo the protagonist's before the credits: What. The. F**k.)

I unfortunatel don't have Live Gold yet, so playing online is staright out. Usually it's just me, brother, stepdad, and maybe random guest. But despite no online, it is some damn good mmultiplayer...much more fun than I have with Halo 3 (ironic considering we've been playing that lately on multiplayer, except remove stepdad with gf). Spec Ops I have yet to do, but maybe next week.

Yes, but with that, I ask:

Do you suffer lag in 60% of the matches you play?

Have you got every achievement (Or in some people's case, "Trophy") in the game?

Answer "Yes" to those two and I will idolize you. But no lies.
See, I've managed to complete the whole game, as well as reach prestige 2, level 32. (Gotta love the "Stinger".) Anyway, I've also managed to find a way around all the lag I get. Trust me, it's not easy playing the way I do.
I just wish Infinity Ward would get off their persqueeters and add a local search.

I've been playing Search and Destroy recently. I don't mind lag in that, because I'm a master of Search and Destroy. I'm very good at being stealthy.

Oh my god, I'm totally with you. I hate those damn shotguns. 1887 Akimbo + FMJ w/ Stopping power and Steady Aim = Unfair. They need some tweaking.

But, anyway, I don't quickscope. My marksman setup is M21 EBR + Silencer w/ Cold blooded pro, Scavenger Pro, and Ninja Pro, w/ Claymores, Flashbangs, and even though it never gets activated, painkiller.

Actually, I might go ahead and list a couple of my favorite classes more detailed right here:

With the M21 EBR It's too hard to 1-shot kill even with stopping power, so Cold Blooded is the way to go.

I think you're talking about the M4A1. I think.
But anyway, splitscreen isn't so bad if you have people to play it with.
Anyway, I've always found that the RPD is quite handy in split-screen play.
Just so you know, you should use cold-blooded instead of stopping power.

With cold blooded, you get way more then you do stopping power.
First of all, you don't show up white hot through thermal scopes..
Secondly, you don't get detected by sentry guns.
Thirdly, you don't get detected by UAV's or Air Support (Helicopters, Harriers, etc)
And with the pro version, your name won't show up on the enemies screen when targeted, as well as no red cross-hair, so that you can easily hide in bushes and ambush people.

Stopping power just increases the damage a little bit, and the pro version just makes it a little bit easier to shoot down helicopters, and UAV's and stuff with bullets.

See why cold-blooded is better?

If you prestige at least once, you can earn even more nice titles for guns.

On Xbox Live, after I went through first prestige, I started using the Tar-21. After I unlocked it, of course. Anyway.. Around the end before I went into prestige 2, I finally completed the challenge for getting 250 headshots with the Tar-21, and unlocked a title that said: [ Tar-21    *]
Where the * is, there was a little picture of a white head, no detail, with the red crosshair circle thing.
You can get tons of new titles after going through prestige.
You also get an extra custom class slot.

Damn this weird feeling I get when I post too much in one thread. :S

Hmm. I'm not the one to go to with that kind of stuff, sorry. I only know about the game, I don't know what to do about problems with it.

I don't know, what do you have the game on? PC? Xbox? PS3?
Maybe seek help on some official Modern Warfare 2 forums, or something. I don't know any specifically, but I know there's a few.
