Actually, unless you release expansion-grade content for a game on the 360, XBLA titles are limited to, if memory serves, 12 achievements. So you'd have to do the "Sub-Achievements" (Challenges, for those who remember Mega Man 9) method to implement more than that. Just reserve the 12 for major happenings. For instance, one each for unlocking the bonus rooms, one for completing the game, one for finding the City of Gold, etc.

Unfortunately I think Live Arcade games are limited to 12 achievements each. That's not even enough to cover the basics.
Course you could do what some of the later games have done and have sub achievements IN the game and with so many of the achievements unlocked you unlock a regular achievement

Lawful Good: Beat the game without killing a single shopkeeper.
Lawful Evil: Beat the game, killing every shopkeeper you come across, or 17 shopkeepers, whichever one is lower.
Walrus Lover: Beat a custom map/set of maps NOT made by yourself, or a XBOX-Live friend.

Mass Murderer: Kill 20 (Or some number like that) enemies in a level.

why did i use my last rope! fall into the lava after the final boss

time to go to bed-play the game for 3 hours
