hyperme... I feel like I'm taking crazy pills! It seems like loading the same level in the GM 8.0 version and the GM 8.1 versions are giving different very different results. For example, try loading the first level of Sageofrage's ice caves ( http://mossmouth.com/forums/index.php?topic=1939.0) with the 8.0 version - works fine because it was made with that or a slightly older version. Load it in your 8.1 conversion or my fan update (both converted to 8.1 seperately), and none of the extended ascii tiles seem to load right. I've compared some of the loading code between versions and they are identical. wtf? I don't know if i'm doing something wrong, it's a problem unique to my computer, or some internal thing with how GM is handling the new unicode stuff? I'm pretty sure I had tested compatibilty while I was doing the fan update (or was that before moving it to 8.1?) and it worked ok.

I guess something is wrong on your end?

So I'm curious, did you have it edit the magic signs code at all? Or was it just happenstance that the glitch was discovered in relation to that.

Nope, didn't change any of the code in MS. The conversion from the 8.0 to 8.1 was a just copy-paste job for any code (including MS) that contained extended ascii characters, as GM 8.1 doesn't convert them correctly when opening a GM 8.0 file (something to do with the unicode support added to 8.1). I've only looked at the magic signs script so far to see if it was the problem, but it's ok. Not sure what I missed...in any case, i'm just going to redo it from the 8.0 file.

How's this going? Just asking 'cause I'm an asking kind of guy. With an ulterior motive. Also consider updating the included magic signs to the latest version?

I haven't started I've been switching between your official 4.4c version and the working fan update compiled with GM 8.0 while doing my magic signs experiments...because...paranoia. Wanted to make sure levels in both versions work the same before I convert to 8.1 again. I would include the latest magic signs. If you are planning an update of your own or whatever motive, i'm ready to follow along.

Suddenly Update! The hell is even going on here? I'll tell you!
>Updated Magic Signs. >On an entirely related note, I correctly updated the Magic Sign scripts to GM 8.1. >Fix an error with Damsels getting shot. >Added oSpikesWood, sSpikesWood and sSpikesWoodBlood. These can be accessed using Magic Signs, and should allow any Magic Signs level using Magic Sign's Wooden Spikes to work. They are not accessible via the normal editor. >Tweaked the tile selector and stopped the thing with more than one being made if you press Tab lots.

I just checked it on a couple magic signs levels, and it seem to work great. Noticed something odd though. Why has the file size shot up so much? Does GM 8.1 just make bigger executables or something?
