I SQUEEZED THE WHIP AT MY SIDE TIGHTLY,

AND SWORE I HEARD VOICES AHEAD."

In this game, you play as an awesome dude with an awesome hat, with no real name, hes called the "Spelunker"
Or if you unlock the Damsel or Tunnelman you can play as them.
This is just an intro and we will get into the real stuff next chapter.

NEXT. CHAPTER 2. THIS ONE WILL BE LONGER.

CHAPTER 2. BASICS AND CONTROLS

The Spelunker comes with some nice tricks, such as a Whip. This Whip has two attacks, you heard me two. Count them, 1, 2. The front of the whip and the back of the whip, both capable of harming your enemies.

The Spelunker can also jump, exactly 2 tiles high, there are items that can increase that, but we can get into that later.

During jumping he can also grab onto ledges, so he can climb over and continue on.

He also comes with 4 bombs and 4 ropes. Ropes go up about 8 tiles(Correct me if I'm wrong) and the bombs will destroy any block within a 2by2 range.
Unless you get items, these are all you have, its best to conserve bombs and ropes and use the one you have more of if possible.

Sometimes your path will be blocked off completely due to a bug, this is sadly a waste of a bomb but is needed to continue.

Crawling is another ability of the Spelunker, while crawling of a ledge he will do a Flip hang, allowing you to fall safer and see whats below.(VERY USEFUL IN TEMPLE) Pros: Allows you to see below and fall safer CONS: Drops held item(VERY BAD IN ICE LEVELS BUT STILL USEFUL)

There are 4 areas in Spelunky, the Caves, the jungle, the Ice, and the Temple
I will do a quick overview of the 4.

CAVES: Generally a normally level you'd see in a platformer, nothing to special yet, this part would serve as learning for the player. In my opinion anyway.

JUNGLE: In the jungle the mighty jungle, the Man-Trap sleeps tonight.
In these levels, the game gets even more interesting, with trees, water, frogs, and monkeys. This is a special set of levels, Still kinda like the caves in layout

ICE: This is where the game changes alot, there is usually about 3 or 4 rows of small or large platforms, you want to go down in this level, be careful! There's a bottomless pit down there man. Yetis, and UFOS are introduced in this level.

TEMPLE: The HARDEST part of the game by far, the walls are gray and so are arrow traps, extra focus is NEEDED for this part. Mummys and Cultist are the new enemies here, Spike Totems make a return here. Theres also the rare Magmaman and LAVA. LOTS OF LAVA. AND THEY BURN YOUR ROPE.

Next Chapter 3.

Thats about it for this chapter.

CHAPTER 3. Advanced tricks

Time for some of the Advanced tricks of Spelunky.
Telefragging: Using a Teleporter to kill an enemy, usually used to kill Shops without getting Aggro.

Drop Bomb/drop rope: If you use the item switch button, you can hold an unarmed bomb or rope, go to the very edge of a gap, and he will drop it, useful for disarming traps.

Robbing Method: if you take an item and walk to the very edge of a shop and jump slightly forward, you should land on a shopkeepers head, giving you enough time to grab his Shotgun and shoot him.

If you are in a weapon store with Pistol or Shotgun, just shoot him with it.

Sticky-Damsel: If you have sticky bombs, while holding a Damsel, press your throw bomb Shortcut, and it will stick to her, put her down and let her run to her doom.

Flip hang without dropping item: This one is Dangerous, instead of doing the Flip hang, jump of the gap slightly and pull into the ledge as fast as you can, you will grab the ledge while holding your item, Climbing gloves or cape make this very easy

Anti Air Cannon: This isn't really advanced but if you have an extra rope, use the shortcut over a flying enemy and it will fly into them and kill them. This trick will hold a Giant Spider in place.

Not very many Advanced tricks but hey.
Chapter 4 next.

You can run in the direction that the boulder is rolling and then jump towards the boulder and go on top of it
