Dear Derek , you are a genius. You made a game I always dreamed of.
Roguelike platformer ! Awesome is not the word to describe it.

However I am parent - which means i am often called away to immediate duty  Wink

And this is a bummer. Cause if i start playing and have a good run. I may have to turn off the game.

Also. Spelunky is such a great game to play on coffe break at work. Alas again. Time is limited.

So i wonder why there is no simple save on exit ? Just recording your state if game was exited. Like Roguelikes.

Its no save. And it will surely not make game less hardcore (didnt do it for roguelikes)

Simply now i hesitate to play Spelunky everytime thinking i wont have time to finish it....

So please, please,please

Do it for us Dads, and Moms, and working folks.

This is likely to be made at some point or another. (I would attempt if I had more experience) I think there was some response to making the game "more Roguelike" in a few ways. More difficulty, random potions, and cursed items are already in the works or finished.

I could make such a thing, but I don't now how to make it go away when you load it or prevent cheating, and I wouldn't want to make Spelunky  with save states

Not save states, just when you turn off Spelunky in the middle of the game and turn it on again, it should ask... Would you like to resume?

I could make such a thing, but I don't now how to make it go away when you load it or prevent cheating, and I wouldn't want to make Spelunky  with save states

Mars means that he can make it so you can save, but he doesn't know how to make it delete when loaded in otherwords, Save stating.

If Spelunky was exited in middle of game (during play session) it saves the state.

On Spelunky open , it checks for saved state. If there is one it asks you "Would you like to continue" - If yes. It loads the game and than deletes save game.

There is a roguelike I have (made in GM) in which it was added, I'll see if I can find out how.

You don't seem to grasp the problem. I don't know how to make game maker delete the save. saying "delete save" doesn't help because that is what I don't know how to do it. thats like trying to teach someone to drive by saying drive... I understand your trying to help but...

arucard let me know if you know how to delete saves.

I looked at the game I was thinking of, but that guy is way more advanced than I could come near understanding. I'm still checking around with tutorials and resources to make some of my own stuff, so hopefully I'll run into something that may help.
