Weird as it might sound, then I run fast to the right, I can jump, but then I run fast to the left, I cant. I can jump normally then walking both right and left. Am I the only one with this problem?

P.S: Stupid me should have tried this before, so it would be one post and not two =)

That only happens if I run by holding down x. It doesnt happens (I can jump normally) if I run by holding shift. I cant run by holding ctrl, space or alt like the readme says, nor by pressing down while walking (I didnt disable it, doing so will make me crawl) so it seens there are a lot of weird things about my running.

Ah, was searching for edit so I didnt see modify =)

Its a laptop keyboard, and the laptop is less than a month old. Unless the game has issues with laptops, I think its unlikely.

Dont know if that makes a difference, but the system is windows 7.

My keyboard is weird in that only the F1 function in Spelunky
actually works. Of course Esc works.

Keyboards have limits to the number of keys that can be pressed at one time and certain key combinations are not allowed. Laptop keyboards are usually worse in this regard. That's why it works with shift but not other keys. Try plugging in a desktop keyboard and using that.

Laptop keyboards don't allow as much as desktop keyboards? You learn something new everyday...

Also, why do you run holding down X? I never understood  X or Down arrow.

Don't listen to the Readme, it hasn't been updated forever. IIRC.

I don't know if it's still there, but you could walk, then hold down, to run.

Down to run option is still in the config file, but my suggestion would simply be to condition yourself to use the run key (shift if using default keyboard) and chalk it up to another minor bug.

Ah, I didnt know that, that must be it. Thanks.

Though I dont understand why pressing down x + right + z is fine, while down + left + z isnt =)

I dont run much in this game (really only for large jumps or to escape REAL trouble) so pressing down x was fine... but pressing shift is better. dont know why I didnt try shift before =)

Lin is correct, I have the exact same problem that you do on my laptop. It's because of the keyboard.
