What color palette is classic spelunky?

I'm considering making a mod, or just bugging around with the game, but if I want to add anything coolio I'd like to know if there is a specific palette I need to restrict myself to so things don't look out of place. All of the sites I've seen have mentioned 8-bit and spelunky, but usually in reference to the music. Haven't read anything that straight up screams "Ayy, lmao. Spelunky is 8bit."
On another note, feel free to add anything you might change about spelunky classic as it is.

No, it doesn't really have any specific color palette. Making/adding new graphics to it is more a matter of style matching than anything else. Sprites can look retro without restricting themselves to certain colors.

Sometimes I wonder if I like Spelunky too much.
