A minor thing, but "The entire gang" achievement says to rescure "all 8 hidden characters" but there are actually 16 to unlock, so what's the deal with that?

Probably an artifact from the XBLA version of the game, where half of the characters are actually downloadable content.

8 of the unlockable characters were introduced as an DLC in the Xbox version.
So, it only counts the characters which were present in the Xbox version when bought it.

But since it's not DLC for the Steam release, and some are actually introduced as area-specific (robot in mothership, golden monk in CoG), the achievement should be either changed or clarified in my opinion

Clarified, I guess.

I unlocked the achievement after getting the gold guy in city of gold, so I think you need to unlock all of them.

Just unlocked this achievement. It's definitely when you've gotten all the characters including the former DLC characters.

Now it makes sense now, 'The Entire Gang'.
Now it;s time to be corrected.

I gotta ask, however. Why are the DLC characters already unlocked in the PSN version? I have all 8 DLC characters from the start. It just removed the challenge of getting them.

Because it was based upon the Xbox version and not the PC one.

In other words, it's based upon an older version of the game.

A future update should relock them in their coffins, then.
