Well, I'm not talking about the difficulty of this unlocking challenge: I'm talking about the fundamental idea of it being something you unlock. In short, this feels more like a mod than a standard feature. I support it as the former, not the latter.

We never said unlock. We said choice.

I think making it an option would degrade the surprise and punishment that it has as is. What would be your punishment if you already had a ball & chain? Another one?

The same thing it normal is in the game. and it's meant be hard, not something you do for fun... IDEA! not the ball a chain a game play choice, but a char you can unlock that has it. The prisoner, he has a ball and chain no matter what and no weapon on his own.

That would be awesome.
Prisoner unlock : Kill 8 shopkeepers and defile at least 4 altars in a run.
Yeah, cruel, but if you get to the black market, not so much.
Maybe it could be if you defile 2 altars as the prisoner, the ball & chain becomes heavier?

he makes a point, but it's not the best one. What? I'm not trying to be confrontational, but dude, when did this conversation go so weird? When you say that I don't have a good point, I presume you are referring to the same thing you wrote earlier: We never said unlock. We said choice.
If that is what you mean, then I have been waiting since yesterday for you to realize you made a mistake. Reread the original post. This entire conversation has been about "unlocking" a special mode. Then, once you have it, of course you'd have the "choice" of using it. Everything I've said so far about how I'd rather see a mod for this than see it put in the base game still holds. It's not a very important point, and I don't want to fight over it, but I want the least for there to be any silly misunderstandings. And none of this weirdness prevents me from saying that I like the gameplay idea itself, or that I like your recent idea for a prisoner. A special character to unlock, who would logically have a ball and chain, seems cool. --Delmion

I think I'd be able to one-up you on that, but I'd rather not.

It looks like the Ball & chain DOES NOT appear on the winning screen if you beat the game with it.

Were you holding it in your hands when you went through the door INTO the final level? There is that known bug where whatever was in your hands then appears during the final animation, even if you drop it and/or pick up something new.
I know, the thing should still be trailing behind you if you weren't holding it; but knowing this detail could help with pinning down the issue.
