To start things off, I thought I might throw up this article from our good friends over at IndieStatik:ProtEAs: Electronic Arts reveal their plan to take Proteus down
-Proteus, an explorative, experiential art-game that has been selling like hot-cakes;
-Electronic Arts (EA), a large-scale game publisher which has for some time been a by-word for stupid. (note: impartiality not guaranteed.
-(various videogame consumers)
The story goes a little like this:
Hey, I'm a game where you walk around on a colourful island, gently interacting with things, gentle ambient music being awesome all the while!
> Hey Proteus, you're pretty sweet!
> Yeah, that music is smooth.
> I don't see what all the fuss is about. I mean, there's not even a goal. >_>
> OMG THOSE CRABS ARE SO KAWAII! *\^_^/*
> ^Dafuq that guy on? o.O
> What crabs? All I saw were coloured blobs ._.
> Heh, didn't know I'd be so popular!
> I AM BUYING THIS FOR ALL MY FRIENDS! :-]*Consumer_77 throws munnie $$$
> Ooh shinies! *Proteus catches munnie $$$
> Didn't see THAT coming... >_>
> Hey EA, aren't you into Art Games 'n' such stuffs?
> Oh, yeah!
> Arts is my middle name!
> ...or something like that :3
> Didn't even know people would throw munnie at art, tho :S
> lolderp! xD
> EVERONE STOP IV AN IDEA!
> Gonna maek a game. :3
> Gonna be called ProtEAs. :3
> Gonna make a zombie version 2! ^_^
> It'll be called ProZeas.
> geddit!!!! xD
> STAHP! ;~;
...and I'm tired.
If you're still reading by this point, then it should be fairly obvious that it's satire, pure and simple, playing out what might possibly happen if the likes of EA were ever to attempt such a reformation, and dive into the world of games that aren't 'bout shooting thangs.
(note: feel free to keep it light-hearted on this one. It's not for realz, after all. ^_^ )This is what I spend my time doing when I don't have a working computer. :[
