It is a possibility Dlc will be released and some may even be in the works! Unfortunately nothing has been announced thus far

I think they are working on a new version for the pc before working
On xbox version. Would be great if they could let us know something.

I heard Derek mention on a podcast or interview somewhere that any DLC that adds more areas would come in the form of a free update (like a title update) instead of paid downloadable content. I know, probably won't happen for a long time and I wish I could remember the source.
I'm sure a PC release is inevitable, but it may be a little while in coming. Sony and Microsoft like to have their windows of exclusivity, and then you have the time of porting the game to another platform. Even though we know Derek/Andy aren't doing the porting work on the PS3/Vita version.
It took about a year for Fez to come to PC. I'd imagine the earliest we'd see Spelunky HD for PC is Christmas. I'm just guessing, but until Derek announces something more concrete that's all we have...

He said that on these forums  . If we add new areas to the singleplayer game or online multiplayer it will be a free Title Update and not paid DLC. Those are core features that I'd want everyone to play the game with. In my opinion DLC should be for fun extras.  |

Aw, that stinks. It would be cool if this year he would add new areas, dlc, maybe even Spelunky 2! I hope he does . |

It took him close to 3 years to make XBLA. It would take another 2 years for a new Spelunky

Why does everyone want online multiplayer?
On a Xbox, you'd have to pay a subscription fee to get multiplayer.
The PS3 version, you don't have to, but since the Xbox version's out already...
