I have managed to get the Spelunker into a game called "Super Smash Brothers NES". Please forgive me as I had used the decompiler to get the sprites from Spelunky AND to enable the ability to save screenshots in Super Smash Brothers NES.

Here are the screen shots of the Spelunker in adventure mode. Three of them shows him demonstrating his attacks:

Hope you'll enjoy them.

Looks really cool. Perhaps he can use the jetpack as a recovery move?

Unfortunately, the limitations of the game's custom character support would've prevented it from hapaning. also, the readme of the game says this of the game:

Quote
There's the X attack.
Usually very weak, yet quick. So it can be used rapidly with succession.

The Z attack.
A charged attack, quick uses will do weaker attacks, yet if you let it charge fully then release...
SMACK!!! Someone's getting a full-powered hit.

Also the over-Z attack.
This attack is executed by pressing the directions left or right while pressing Z at the same time.
It's very varied, depending on the fighter. It's very unique to the character.

EDIT: If you don't know by now, even though you looked at the above quote, then you should know that Super Smash Brothers NES only supports three attacks (to make it more "NES-like")

Wow, that seems pretty cool. The limitations on the custom character sucks, though.

Obviously it's crappy, then.

Because everyone knows the NES has four directions and three buttons. Assuming one button and a maximum of one direction per action (including timing for pushing the button immediately after the direction) that's three nondirectional, twelve directional, and twelve timed directional. That's 27 different actions you can take, assuming you're using Select as a button.

BTW, Super Smash Brothers NES Is an actual Game Maker Game. Here's the link to download it: http://rebirth.instantarts.org/ssbnes.php
The reason why the Spelunker is in the game is because I've been using the new custom beta version. Also, I hope the link would help you familiarize with the game.

Actually, the reason why I told you about it is because I want to have permission to upload the custom character to the game's official character-sharing sub-forum. I'll post the link to it if I do get permission.
