Climbing Spelunky v1.2

Download (Spelunky1.2, source included): http://www.mediafire.com/?euvl6czs2l6ay47
Download (TLS, source included): http://www.mediafire.com/?apov9boj3zzjzo9

This is a simple mod that switches start and exit of each level, so that you have to go up instead of down. To make it playable, a few other changes were made:
You get 3 ropes at the beginning of each level .
You are mostly invincible for the first 1.5 seconds of each level (in case an enemy or trap spawns right at the entrance).
I think that's all, but it's been a while since I finished this mod and I might have forgotten something.

This mod makes the game slightly more difficult, but it's definitely possible to win. Just don't expect to set speedrunning records.

So, if you're interested, try it out and tell me what you think.

Version History:

1.2 (current version)
   - stopped spiders from spawning right above the entrance
   - combined this mod with Quick Restart Spelunky
   - added TLS version

1.1 (http://www.mediafire.com/?i4y62rmgevi9cwg)
   - stopped enemies and traps from spawning near the entrance
   - removed invincibility at level start

1.0 (http://www.mediafire.com/?ry441m28uutarsw)
   - initial release

I did not change anything about Olmec, since you don't go downward anyway, and because I did not know if I could get the automatic camera movement to work properly.
The compass works perferctly well. Getting it to point upwards was one of the most time-consuming steps though.

That's great to hear. I also like alots. Wink

This should be combined with "Reverse Spelunky" or whatever it's called for the ultimate temple-to-mines experience.

You could probably tweak the the entity gen script so monsters and traps don't spawn near the entrances. The code's already set up to prevent that normally, so making it work in reverse would make that invulnerability time unnecessary (not to mention the initial scare of starting next to something dreadful).

Sometimes I wonder if I like Spelunky too much.

"Something dreadful" being a mummy in the Temple.

Oops, I think I forgot invincibility against their flies.

Anyway, there's a new version that fixes that problem by following halibabica's suggestion. Thanks for telling me which script to look at, couldn't find it on my own.

I've been playing a lot of this.

I noticed that if a snake pit gets generated, the rest of cave levels will have snake pits.
