Hi, I know this will sound like a really dumb question, but please hear me out.

So I saw this game on youtube and I was like "great, I'll go play it."  So I download it, enter the tutorial and.. well, nothing.  I see the signs but no text pops up or anything.  I've tried hitting buttons and such, but no luck.  I just can't read the signs.  Can anyone help?

Do they not go off when you walk by them? You could always skip the tutorial though

Yes, they do not go off.  And I did skip the tutorial, only to discover that no text appears when I go to the shop either.  Every other bit of the game works, but for some reason text bubbles just don't happen.

I dont need the specs. If you were on a mac it might happen as all mac ports are fan made and not offical. They are also very buggy. If reinstalling doesn't work I don't see what else you can do.

Well, it didn't work.  :/  I'll go google around and see if that gives me an answer I guess.

EDIT: It's a registered bug on the wiki, but so far I haven't found a way to fix it.

You did download it on the official website right? Also try v 1.2. Heres a link to it http://mossmouth.com/forums/index.php?topic=1257.0. If that doesn't work than tell me what operating system you are on.

I'm pretty sure it was the official website.  Spelunkyworld.com?

And I'll try 1.2, I'm on Windows 7 if that makes any difference.

EDIT: Nope.  Still no tutorial text.  I looked at the list of bugs 1.2 fixed and I didn't see my bug in there anyway. :/

I have a hunch what the problem may be...
run the config program, set it to windowed, and put the scaling down.
What I think is happening is the sign text is appearing off the bottom of the screen, as used to happen on my old laptop if I made it fullscreen and scaled it up too much.

I always play spelunky on the second smallest window until the other day when i tried making a GoH lp (mars complained a long time ago no one ever made one and it appears to be true) when i scaled it up it went barely off my screen I see how that might happen

Resizing it in config worked!  Thanks!
