First off, I love the game. I've bought it, and glad I did.

But the achievements are so badly weighted and designed for XBOX. Can Mossmouth patch the achievements? If so, they need to.

Here are a few examples of ridiculous achievements for minuscule points:

10 Points
Completed the game without collecting any treasure. No shortcuts.  Shocked

10 Points
Completed the game in under 8 minutes. No shortcuts.  Shocked

Compared to:
30 Points
Beat the Tutorial.  Tongue
and
20 points
Reached the Jungle.  Tongue

Is a patch possible for these misbalanced acheivements Huh? Huh? Huh?

I think the idea is that they want most people to walk away with most of the points, and only the best to walk away with all of the points. I guess harder challenges having higher scores would make more sense for overall gamerscore, but for a single game I can understand this. Otherwise there'd be a huge gap, with lesser players having few points and the best having tons more.

Hmmm. Are those two achievements even doable?

I mean I'd got a Xbox Gamer score of over 25k and done some pretty hard achievements, but I've never seen anything even approaching how difficult these appear to be. On a difficulty scale they're 11/10.  Shocked

but not in the Xbox version so it's not relevant.

I was showing that they are doable

I have every achievement (and avatar award) except for the addicted achievement, so yes, they are all physically possible.

To get straight to the point, achievements have never (to my knowledge) been patched and likely never will, unless they simply do not work. In other words, if achievements do not trigger like they should then they will probably be patched. This is more an instance of distaste. I could complain just as easily about game 'X' that demands I put in over 100 hours of online into a game to get the full gamerscore because many games do this. Lastly, what would you do about anyone who already got the achievements? Do not get me wrong, you've got a valid argument in that scores are not logical in a traditional sense but this is far from a traditional game and plenty of thought likely went into how points are allocated between each achievement.

Just posting to confirm that I've never seen it either. Requirements behind them have been patched, like how they made the Marathon tournament shorter in Trials HD, but not the actual achievements themselves. Not sure they're allowed to do it.

That's awesome, Poppy. Would you consider putting together a guide for: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/spelunky/achievements/ ...Or at least making posts in the discussion sections on the hardest achievements?

For use people who have never played Spelunky prior to the Xbox release, these achievements seem daunting, to say the least. And there's no achievement guide.

If you were to give us pointers on how you did it, that would help a ton.   Grin

Thanks!

try http://www.trueachievements.com/ most of the achievements have guides.

about the topic, i think the achievements and the scores are fine, the actual points of the achievement mean nothing anyway, i think that's kind of the point, only dedicated fans will get the harder achievements.

they are not imbalanced at all.
