how to configure controls?

The readme says "THE CONTROLS CAN BE CONFIGURED WHEN THE GAME LOADS", but I can't figure out how to change the controls.
Also, the readme says that you can use "B" for bomb and "R" for rope as a shortcut, but "B" and "R" don't work for me.

EDIT: one more thing, how do you heal yourself in this game?  Please don't tell me there's no healing.

Controls can't be configed as far as I know. You can press a and s for bomb and rope I think. And you heal a heart everytime you bring a damsel to the end of the level.

Includes setup for custom keyboard and gamepad controls.

The readme probably wasn't updated.. I think an earlier version of the game had configuration options when the game started, then it was moved to a seperate app.

Yeah, I remember the readme being horribly outdated, and that was two years ago. I think it lists a key for flares still.
