Welcome to my world. I thought the guard was a skelington (I have bad eyes.) How wrong I was...

Hey Klatrymadon and gc88!

Sorry to hear you are having problems. Do you mind letting me know what region your Xbox is, and what language the game was set to use? Also, what model Xbox do you have?

These are the only 2 reports I have seen of this, but I'm looking into it as soon as I get more information.

Thanks!
Andy

Hi Andy,

Mine's a PAL console (I'm in the UK), and the language is set to English. It's a Jasper model from a couple of years ago, but I don't know much more about it than that. It's not a slim one, anywho. I could check the serial number, if that'd help?

Cheers,
Mike

Are you running the game from the hard drive, or did you store it on a memory card or usb stick?

I'll post back as soon as I know more. Again, apologies!

This game has been bug free for me, which is a rarity these days with the whole 'release first, patch later' stuff.

i have only encountered one ridiculously minor one - i jumped to me death in ice cave, and it said that i got beaten up which i didnt, i just jumped. hahaha

No probs, Andy - I appreciate the response. I'm running it straight from the hard drive, aye.  Smiley

At first I thought it might be something to do with my HDD being almost full, but I freed up about 10gb and reinstalled the game, to no noticeable improvement...

I have the same old console and play from the hard-drive but I never saw this bug.
Region set to German, language to English.

I have a North American console (from Canada) and the language is set to English. I have the Xbox Arcade (the white one, not the slim) with a 120gb hard drive. The game is running from the hard drive. Thanks for the response!

Not sure this qualifies as a bug, but compared to the PC version, the boulder trap is MUCH more destructive, and more often than not angers a shopkeeper, which ups the difficulty of the remaining game significantly. I'm not sure how long shopkeeps stay mad after this happens, perhaps I haven't survived long enough to see the effect wear off.

I noticed this occurs as often as 7/10 times that I grab the idol, which seems like a little too often. Makes me want to skip the idol entirely when it pops up.

Yeah same thing happened to me about 5 times in a row last night. really makes me not want to even mess with the idol....

Hi Andy, I'm not sure if this will help you on the crashing bug I'm getting. I watch MANvsGAME and on his last cast of Spelunky, when he started up the game, he didn't get the screen that crashes on me. When you start the game, between when it says Mossmouth and when it shows the auto save symbol, I get a white screen with like a dragon spinning around. He did not get that screen and that's the screen where the game crashes on me 3/4 of the time.

Yeah, that dragon screen is in there because other regions don't display the ESRB logo, so I needed something to put on the screen while the loading finished. But if you are using a North American Xbox, you should never be seeing it. Something in the loading is getting borked.

If you crouch-walk off a ledge in order to hang off it in a confined corridor, any projectile you are carrying will impact the block immediately across from you, ricochet and cause damage to your character.

I realize this could just as easily be considered a feature, but I call it a bug because it was not present in the original Spelunky and it doesn't add anything to the game. Worse, it detracts from the physics and flow of the game.

This damage mechanic is illogical (who would toss a rock over their head before climbing down a ledge) and worse, adds an arbitrary damage element which is counter-intuitive and cheap. This ultimately detracts from the wonderful element of the game where most damage done to the player is ultimately preventable. I realize that one could argue that you just need to learn to throw projectiles down the hole if there is an adjacent block, but I rebut that it slows the player's progress in a silly, immersion breaking way.

Hopefully this will be fixed in a patch.

I'd have thought a bug that obvious would have shown up in testing, unless it's only cropped up when it went live?

I agree, it's slightly annoying, but like you say, just something else to remember.
