I'm bringing this back because I had an idea for a mod that I obviously can't do

TAS Maker Mod
I mean think about it, we may even attract some new people from tas communities
even better if it can be applied to some of the more insane mods like Tastes Like Booms, Tastes like... Bouldeath (I forgot what variation of "rocks" that mod had in its name), Gates of Hell, etc

I figure it would be really complected though .w . I'm guessing it's at least TyOvC tier

Oh.  I have no idea how that would even work in a game like Spelunky.  There was that one time someone tried to make the game play itself by giving Spelunker highly conditional AI, but even that had all sorts of problems.  How do you make a TAS for a game that's never the same twice?

A TAS is done by using a ton of tools like savestates and slowdowns, since I've never attempted a tas idk what the extent of the tools are

the random generation shouldnt be too much of a problem, it just means that you cant compete on times for non-user made levels (the recording part is the bigger issue)

nope, it's quite the art in fact, takes a really long time (for some games it can take an hour to the min of final video, but most are shorter)

And beating other people's speed runs also happens. It's an intersting field

Normal "pro" TAS do it frame by frame, and use heavy save stats, although there are other tools, it's worth looking into

so in short who wants to find a way to add some form of recording support to spelunky? since obviously save states are easy mode and slowdown is theoretically easy mode, its just replaying it thats the problem
