WOO! <--- click here to see the pic!YAY! <--- click here to see the Video! No, wait, that's not right. SpelunkER? Yes, I was very confused, especially since the news came days apart. The name grabbed my attention, the screenshot made me raise an eyebrow, then a more careful look made me go "huh?" What are the odds huh? >.>:

Anyone who has ever complained about the difficulty of Spelunky should be forced to play Spelunker for a while.

I just tried it, and just wow. You can surely see similarities, but I'm happy our Spelunky doesn't have glass ankles.
Also, the classic is on Wiiware as well.

Yeah, that's some timing! I met the Spelunker folks at PAX, actually - they were a bit concerned about the similarities. It soured the meeting somewhat as I enjoy the original.
Anyway, hopefully it won't be a problem.

Well, they are getting their updated release on PSN right? Is it the same people from the original, or all new developers? Either way, I too was kind of taken back at the similarities seeing it the first time, but they feel different enough that at most it could be considered a homage to Spelunker. There are so many other, more obvious references though. Unless, of course you decide to add a raygun...

I think the fact that you had a human encounter with them makes it much better for both of you. Better than being an anonymous person on the internet.

Apparently the updated version is still TBA for Europe and US (in the most current page I could find), but the Wii virtual console original is already available.
