Okay, this post applies to nearly all the regulars at this point, and is important, so no tl;dr! This is not a light-hearted issue, neither, so I will be addressing people specifically. Bear in mind that understand you all to be intelligent people of relatively sound mind, and as such I will be leaving much to individual self-examination.
Let's begin, shall we?
We are going to talk about SuperX46, or rather the vicious cycle surrounding his treatment and responses. You all know what I'm talking about: The poking and pushing, the inconsiderate use of words like 'Child' and the reactive shit-storms that ensue.
Each and every one of you have made complaints about his behavior, told him to shut it when he's being raucous, and have attempted to shun him in various ways. There's even been open discussion about banning him, for goodness sake!

Shame on you.
Shame on you, as you call him a child and are surprised when he replies in kind. Shame on you, as you whisper behind his back while completely failing to hide your intentions. Shame on you all.
I care too much to start giving a crap about notions of vigilante justice and impromptu edification.

Bae: At what point did your intelligent wit collapse into this lack-lustre facsimile, where you have not the intelligence to realise that you are in fact being snide rather than witty? You aren't a degenerate who feels great indifference towards people, so right now I'm telling you to wake up and smell the ashes. I would think that especially since you took offense at the whole (s)he thing that you could appreciate the weight of the situation.

Kegluneq: You're a well educated individual, you is by no means socially inept, and
you study computer engineering. From this I draw the conclusion that you are relatively aware of the importance and workings of social systems. So you can see why I would be surprised by your lack of care in matters of this sort. Considering the fact that you don't post as often as you used to, I thought you would have put much deliberation into discussion involving the judgment of others. You say you like small things? Super is officially the youngest member of our little tribe.

Mars: You have shown that you're capable, so why have such little discretion on the matter?

Hyperme: I respect you too much as a person to think anything other than that you must have missed something somewhere. Again, more discretion is needed.

Grieck: I'm too tired to think f something decent to say to you. You're a literary type, right? Go read To Kill aMockingbird again, I think Atticus has a few things he wants to show you about interacting with children.

Audioworm and Kirby Lord have other motives, and as such are not taken into consideration. Likewise, Super himself can not be expected to make any real defense against claims I may make, and is therefore also excused.
Regardless of what may have started it, whether it was Super being immature, Bae poking fun, or even just a simple misunderstanding, this has to end.

I'm going to stop here, because it's now 3:00 AM, my laptop is acting up from running solidly for 60 hours straight, and my words are becoming garbled.

Becuse quite honestly college has been doing a number on me and I have hardly been able to do much, nor do I really know whats going on fully. I've missed 95% of it. I still don't know whats happening, per say.

I am a little taken aback by the comments on me. Not because I was mentioned negatively, as I certainly could have acted better, but because they imply I was a frequent participant.

I can not defend the other members, but for myself I stayed out of things for the most part. I have not called him child, nor treated him with any less respect than I would any other. I may not like all his posts, and certainly thought less than positive things (including wondering how a temp ban would impact his posts upon returning), but I refrained from posting such. The most I did was point out a time or two of offense, and claimed that he shouldn't make passive aggressive topics to attack others when he could just message them himself. Even when I was annoyed enough to actually do as others, I simply left him a message saying more or less what my thread replies were, and pointing out that pushing things to start arguments would go nowhere. I have said nothing that you haven't seen, save that message to Super himself, no whispers to conspirators or any such nonsense.

Mind you, I certainly could have done better as you are doing now, and attempted to defend him. But my aforementioned light biases can make it clear why I wouldn't. I am guilty of apathy and sloth, but nothing more.

I made this post because it seemed apparent that, on the whole, far less thought was going into these dealings than the matter demands. Other than the small semi-paragraph headed by your name, I was not attempting to single you out in any way. Hopefully this is apparent, but it seems that there are a few people I've missed out on entirely(Shane, Mvskoke etc.) I feel I should resend that statement.
On the whole, grieck, I agree with you. You have mostly kept out of it. However, I was somewhat surprised by the expectations you inevitably pushed upon Super, and while I can certainly understand that this may have been prompted by frustration at Super's childishness, there is still the possibility of lasting effect.

By and large, this thread is a call for us all to re-evaluate how we interact within this community, with the aim of keeping our society healthy and it's member happy.


Super: largely due to your age, I do not hold you accountable for the majority of the stupid things you've done here in Mossmouth. However, if you wish start to earning respect and responsibility, you must begin taking responsibility for your actions and treating others with respect.

I s'pose you're right.  I've been looking at Super's posts, and sometimes felt annoyed... but, you know, I easily forgive people.  Heck, I was like that just a few years back.  Looking upon that, I've actually felt the wrath of people of the past wailing on some kid.  You learn to mature; people don't really like childish remarks on their supposedly calm and relaxing... whatever.  Many people I know way older than I still bash on people, so what exactly is the difference?

My thoughts are going everywhere, probably, but point being even if he seems annoying, I'll forgive SuperX46.  Don't hold it against me if I give you a kick in the right direction, though.

I will admit that Super has been the target of some harsh treatment for almost 5? months now.  I remember when this forum was peaceful and every topic didn't have a childish flamewar going on.  Now it's turned into people flinging shit at each other for stupid reasons.

Not attacking but I think we should try and enforce the rule of not bumping old threads, IE The thread audioworm made about his dad was over and done with, we didn't need a big notice about how it wasn't appropriate two months after everyone stopped posting in it.

FYI I talked to Wonkyth about it in Steam Chat. I said I was going to take my anger out on the thread cause it was dead. He was pretty fine with it.
