"ZLevel" is more or less just a simple prefix of the first letter of my user name before "Level". How clever.

These are an assortment of simple levels I put together with the Spelunky editor. They are neither original nor terribly challenging; they are merely ideas put on a canvas.

"ZLevel1" (Current) consists of 9 levels, starting at "ZLevel1.1", and ending at "ZLevel1.9", followed by the boss on "ZLevel1.0". You may start the game from either 1.1 or 1.6, however 1.6's secondary exit can only be attained by starting the game from 1.1. The overall theme of Area 1, as with the actual game, is merely the cavern layout.

In each level, you start with 5 life, and nothing else (Of course, items are still and always carried over from the previous level). Any item you ever need will be presented to you. If ever you need to use bombs, a sign will locate the best place to use one. Ropes on the other hand, you'll never actually need for completing a level; however, they are still very useful for shortcuts and treasure hunting.

At the beginning of each level, a sign depicts the level number you are on, the level name, and a "PAR". The par, as with golf, and many collection games, is an estimate of how much money there is in a level, based off of the static money values (Gold bars, heads, gems). In most cases, you should be able to achieve the par without any carried-over items; however, in some cases, you might need a rope or a bomb to hope to get any money at all.

In the end, the levels are very straightforward, and somewhat simplistic to get to the exit. However, if you're shooting for the highest score, you'll need to sidetrack down a different path - and that's when things get difficult.

I'll keep a high score table down below, just in case people feel competitive.  Wink

You can download from the attachment, or if you're offline, you can download from SendSpace, here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/6zwjov

More will come as I make more Areas. I plan on 4 in total - I'll release a full area of 10 levels at a time.

High Scores
Area 1 (ZLevel1.1 - ZLevel1.0) (Provide a screenshot of just before 1.0's exit)

Here's what happened:
Killed Jaws with bombs.
Got Jetpack

Do I need to say more?

Anyways, awesome levels! Pretty nice scenery, although it still doesn't beat that Eric's adventure.http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e320/eguee/Zlevels.jpg

Yeah, bombs are a finicky thing. Hard to really use them in any sort of intelligent level design, as players really need to just spam them. I suppose Area 2 will have to start using them up... But in the mean time, I'll get rid of Jaws for next time.

Although, even still; you can always get lucky and a jet-pack might fall out of a wall where you HAVE to bomb.  Undecided

I'm not competing or anything. Besides, I don't have all of the tiles unlocked yet; I still need to get the last shortcut.

Hey guys, the forum layout is sort of cutting off the right half/chunk of your images. Wanna either shrink them to half size, or post just the image url?

Hey!! I just played all the levels, and I really enjoyed it!! It was very fascinating. All the puzzles were very nice, and I liked how you incorporated certain blocks into the walls and stuff to hide all the true traps and pitfalls. Very neat!! I look forward to the next bit!! (If there is any!!)
