Okay, serious suggestion here, feedback desired

Okay so

We all know the forum is pretty much dead, we've had massive spam attacks, no moderation, and the Admin is too busy to take care of things, basically Mossmouth is a shithole.

None of us want the forum to die though, we've met friends and acquaintances through it, and generally have had a good time with each other, naturally we dont like seeing the forum in such disrepair like it is now.

I have an idea though, more of a proposal, and Im not entirely sure what you guys will think about it so Im just going to lay it on you and see what happens.

Derek is head of TIGsource, right?
Well, what if we merged the two forums?

TIG seems to be a much livelier place than Mossmouth is, and Im sure that Mossmouth and TIGsource both have members into the same sort of things so why not?

Though you might still be wondering exactly why we would even consider that, well I figure that TIG seems to have more moderation so we wouldnt have to worry about spam, and having the forums connected would mean normal TIG users could join in on us and bring life to our parts, while we would be able to seamlessly explore their indie haven without having to make separate accounts, and since they seem to generally like Derek the Mossmouth forums wouldnt be too out of place either.

Of course, a few other things would have to be taken into consideration, like how would the whole merging thing work?
My idea wouldve been just to take the unique boards from here (Spelunky, XBLA, Source/Mods, Levels, what ever the other thing is) and merge them into TIG as one set of boards under a mossmouth category, with a Mossy General board added to give a place for us to dick around among fellow mossies since Games and Discussion would become obsolete due to TIG already having those.

Another thing that would have to be dealt with is the post history and what not, I figure that in the event of a merge it would be best to just start anew and have Derek lock the old boards, but keep them up as an archive in case we have to link to anything, otherwise we could just rebuild.

Otherwise I dont think theres anything else to say, I think it would be a good way to keep the Mossmouth forums alive and I've given you all my thoughts about it. Let me know what you guys think.

(Oh, and might I add that even if we did all agree on this being a good idea I'm not sure what Derek or TIG's mods would think, so keep that in mind I guess?)

While I like the idea, It definitely won't be happening. TIGSource is a place for indie gaming in general, and such a specific sub-section as Spelunky simply won't make the cut.

Another thing is that the TIGSource community is just that, a community. Here, I honestly feel like we're a bit more of an extended family of sorts (yea I said it). Over at TIGS, there are people that everyone know about 'cause they post a lot, but the recognition is pretty much one-sided.
As primarily Spelunky members, we'll just kind of get lost in the sea of people.

I like this place for what it is, and I like TIGSource for what it is, so I have an account for both, and I'm pretty happy with that.

Not that I won't hang out with y'all on TIGS too.

The optimist in me wants to make two counterpoints though, even though it probably wont change anything

The thing about specifically being spelunky, it doesnt have to be that way, it can be more derek's games in general, i mean thats what this forum was supposed to be, its dedicated to his company so that implies that it should be about more than just spelunky, even if thats all we talk about here

And about getting overshadowed by the TIG community, I know it would probably feel that way at first but gradually i think mossies would eventually mingle with the rest of TIG and become part of the family

Honestly, I've never been on TGI, and I couldn't have been able to even tell you what it was until I read your post.

It seems like a pretty solid Idea, but I do agree that we would get kind of lost in what's going on in other sections of the forum, apart from the Mossy ones.(with the exception of people who have a relatively active account on TGI)
