I've actually never successfully done the whole pot robbing trick. But now that I'd say I'm very good at robbing shops and murdering the shoppy, I should try it. Thanks for reminding me.

Hmm. I hit the shoppy with a skull, ran away, didn't die, took all the stuff in the store, got to the exit, went to the next level, and when I went to the store, I wasn't wanted? O:

The penalty for stealing is very small, only killing makes him chase you for a few levels.

Nah, You're "Wanted" on the next level(and only the next one) if you just take something from his store, but it seems triggering his anger with a skull nullifies the "Wanted" effect.

once he's been stunned, the shop items are no longer "shop" items.
I would suggest that this means you didn't incur any penalties.
It might also be something related to you running away, as a crucial part of the wanted process may have not happed due to his off-screen induced stasis.

No, he was on screen, I just hid behind a block. and I dunno, perhaps, but maybe the wanted status only occurs when you either Kill, or cause him to say something like "Terrorist!"

yeah, I'm not sure.
I've had some strange things happen with shop heists before...
I mean, once I did the whole shebang, using a bomb to blow the whole place up, took everything, no repercussions.

Oh, ok. I've always had it cancel after 3-6 levels...

If you use a pot/skull/pistol, and don't kill him, then your Wanted level doesn't raise.
