if you don't like the spelunker being called 'indy', call him 'indie', like 'independant game designer Derek Yu' or something
His name represents his indie-game heritage!

That was just bad. I appreciate the effort, though!
But yeah, indy, indie, spelunker, dude with red tomato nose...
The possibilities are endless. Just call him SOMETHING.

"The Spelunker" is the best name for him. Everyone else's name is a title.
The Damsel. The Tunnel Man. The Shopkeeper.

His new name is Dave. No longer is anyone allowed to refer to him as any name other then Dave.

I kind of like Lord Whipslash. I imagine him having a huge manor which he fills wall to wall with dirt so that he can practice his spelunking. Every morning before dawn, his servants bury a bottle of booze somewhere on the premises. Lord Whipslash's day hasn't begun until he's tracked that bottle down and fully explored its contents. On Sundays, Sir Tunnel Man comes round to discuss kill counts over tea.

Just sounds like a Lara Croft spinoff.

Just sounds like a Lara Croft spinoff. Hmm... I wonder if Spelunker/Spelunky/Indy/Dave knows Lara Croft... Maybe she's the "her" in "and I remembered her for one last time."
