I was fooling around, and I learned some of these things...
-The Spelunky sign can be stood on via climbing the ladder, then hanging on the edge.
-The shopkeeper of the kissing booth says "Hey, only I can do that!" When you whip or hit her.
-The kissing booth emits a red light in darkness levels.
-Putting a ladder right on the head of the statue, then climbing it after grabbing the idol is NOT a good idea.
-Ball and chain is a great way to challenge yourself. Do it.
-Playing while dark and having the ghost is NOT fun.
So, what odd things have you discovered/encountered/etc...?

Heh heh. I'll second that one!! Jetpacks are PURE awesomeness!! Oh, and... - Reversing or changing your control scheme can be incredibly challenging... As well as frustratingly fun. - Flares can be put out in water... Dammit!! - The spectactles can be actually quite useful sometimes. |

- Crates that take a bomb or rope to get to are always worth the risk. Sometimes, even up to two items wasted, as you typically find 3x rope or 3x bomb (but it sucks wasting 2 rope to find 3 bombs, and then you need rope)
- Rocks hurt.
- Arrows hurt. Twice as much as rocks.
- The damsel has 4 HP, but almost everything does only 1 point of damage. However, she is frail so don't be throwing stuff at her.
- Parachute is the least useful crate item. It has helped before, but not often enough.
- Web Gun can get you almost anywhere if you have the time.
- Machete cuts things, like webs, and enemies!

ORLY? I need to test that out. Just ran a quick test, and it is true. It doesn't work if you're actually stuck in the web, but if you're standing in front of the web the machete completely pulverizes it. Things Spelunky has taught me: -Yetis have excellent basketball skills. -Never walk under a spider, especially if it's twice as big as you. -Women are better at multitasking. They can simultaneously be your love interest and body shield. -If you throw an arrow hard enough, it will stick into solid rock. |

The thing I posted about lamps a while back
Recap:
Lamps are handy in dark levels if you lost your flares to water and have an extra bomb to spare in order to bomb them loose, as they provide just as much light as do flares and are WATER-PROOF!

Pistols can kill Area 1 and Area 2 non-bosses in one shot. It takes two shots to kill a Yeti. It only takes a handful of pistol shots to kill the giant Yeti and most mini-bosses. A pistol is almost as good as a shotgun. "Spam offscreen pistol shots", exploiting the "frozen zone", makes a pistol almost as good as a shotgun. Perhaps pistol bullets should disappear when they enter the "frozen zone", instead of waiting there? |
