This is my first attempt at making a Spelunky level. You only need Spelunky 1.1 to play it. I'm not sure what difficulty level it qualifies as. There are a lot of difficult jumps and other situations involved in getting any of the treasure. There is one entrance and two exits, and I hope to fill in the blanks as to where those exits lead later on.

I didn't realize Spelunky levels were ascii! What a great day. Don't need the link to the file store any more. For anything! Smiley Ever! |D

I apologize if anybody found it too hard to play. While I was designing it, I tried-out each section of the temple over and over again until I had it as hard as I could get it and still possible. When I tried playing through the whole thing, it was simply too aggravating to try and get every little thing perfect, especially one spot involving a jetpack and some lava. I managed to get across it twice when I was designing it, but half a day later it strikes me as impossible. Also, one of the traps right after that was adjusted and I overlooked making sure to include the part that makes it solvable (to get the treasure) and I had to fix that. So, I made a minor change to the layout, so that it's more or less the same idea but easier to complete.

If you read an earlier version of this update and played the level inside, I doubly apologise. It's my first time and I should have been more thorough, but I was doing it at school as the library was slamming closed, kind of under pressure. Tongue Anyways now that I had a little free time, I also made sure one additional puzzle worked exactly the way I intended it. This is the definitive version.

Why not add some checkpoints?  The Editor Plus mod lets you do that, as well as a bunch of other stuff.  Also, the person who made it is super-awesome and sometime updates it when he stops being lazy.

Also, check out http://www.spelunkylevels.tk.  Hosting your levels there is better than making a copy-paste thing.

I will probably grab Editor+ for my second batch of levels, after I've completely exhausted my potential for Spelunky 1.1. What's attractive to me about making levels for 1.1 is that they're immediately accessible to anybody who hasn't installed a mod or doesn't want to.

It's too bad about how the system was designed. It would be grand if there was a way to build fully-fledged, fully-featured Spelunky levels, as they appear in the game, without a mod. But, I imagine, that would require a different file format, going beyond the typable ASCII set.

Anyways after I make a complete set of levels for 1.1 I will probably pick up Editor Plus.

Well, the ASCII format is really a convenient method. And on top of that, the forums here are easy to go back and edit, or post responses to, and so for these purposes it's just as good as file storage. But I will definitely take up your advice after I've completed a whole set and need someplace to store the .zip file.

I hope you enjoy the level!
