Well, I think flying islands was a thought for a type of biome, but not sure how likely that is to happen at this point. Magic is so controversial in the MC community (yeah, like what's not right?) he's gonna have to really think about it to keep from a humongous flame fest. The best magic idea I've seen was LightWarriorK's Big Book of Alchemy, which suggests a more costly method of obtaining the most powerful and rare items the game can offer. It's a very planned out idea and would be pretty interesting to see implemented.

Um.. magic isn't really that controversial from what I have seen. I mean sure some people don't like it, but his planed use of subtle encainment (as  you said) and not random spells, and the fact he planed it from that start kept it at fairly normal levels, heck he only has gold so it can be magicly upgraded from what he said.

But Notch has gone on record as saying there will never be "pew-pew" magic in Minecraft, i.e. no shooting fireballs, health spells, lightning bolts, etc. As well as no dragons.

While it is true, and epic that there well never be "pew-pew" magic, he has said there will be dragons.

He even said on a podcast dragons ARE planed.

Also Mario, how do you get killed by a tree? You mean falling off?

they can grow into you when you turn around, making you unable to move and kill you. it's happened to me.

Seriously, a tree can grow through you? That's pretty hardcore, revenge for all those that were punched to death. And dragon's apparently he's flipped on, he was adamant about there being none at one time :\.

This is what concerns me, I like that he's having fun making the game and has lots of ideas he wants to add. I just feel like he gets a bit scatterbrained at times and ends up breaking a bunch of stuff only to add a few more. Then goes off thinking of more things before fixing the broken ones. I'd love to see all the things planned, villages, npcs, horses, but I wish he would take his time and make sure it's working relatively solidly before releasing another version.

And no, 'the game's in alpha' arguments, that doesn't mean don't fix bugs. In fact, it's the exact opposite. Beta should be where he decides to add all the fluff to the game, alpha should be for the groundwork of what's to come and bugsmashing.

I agree that the level generator has gotten too tame since the indev days. Look at all the cool stuff you can get with just a little bit of tweaking to make it generate how it used to:

also i agree with Arucard, he really needs to finish things before moving on, i mean, we still have rain and snow effects that never get used in game unless youre in winter mode where ITS ALWAYS SNOWING FOREVER

I think it should just snow and rain at random, snow being more rare since it adds access to newish blocks

also it just occurred to me; theres no snow texture

also this is just a sillypet peeve if mine but i wish there was some way to set your character's gender or something, just so you could have appropriate hurt sound effects

You may be able to simply replace the sound file with another Bae, I'm not sure what format they are or anything, so you might need to actually code it in. But I also can't see any pics there? Hmm, can't decode the links either .

Anyway, I always forget there's actually snow/rain in there since the only time I've seen it used was as a bug in third person mode. And that was before I ever knew there was a third person mode. Still, top of my list is wanting those leaves to fall again, even though it's beefing up my blocks removed stat.

I think he was just playing a joke about the no dragon thing, he does that a lot. Like when he went on 4chan and said a ton of stuff about portals that was half true, half lies!

Yeah, thats basicly how he is! but his new team seems to be helping a lot!

I'm not saying to totally stop playing Spelunky and change to Minecraft forever, for I play both.

I'm also an Operator on that server. Have actually been there a while, and it has it's own forum.

That is true, I can't wait for that. but zombie assault isn't going to be a mode most likely just something that happens once in a... red moon!
