sorry but this is bad advice, you should never make iron armmor, there are so much better things to make with iron.

You'd be surprised how much of a difference some good armor can make in a battle. A brand new set of iron armor can withstand multiple creeper explosions!

Of course, if you keep around your base, it wouldn't make THAT much of a difference since you could just go back and retrieve all your stuff. But if you adventure away from your spawn, good armor can save you from losing an inventory's worth of equipment.

Usually I make a bucket first, then an iron pick. After that I make armor then hoard whatever iron I can get. Maybe a second bucket for easy water sources. Usually just keep a single iron pick around in case of good ores, the other iron tools are not really worth it. And for minecarts you'll need a serious amount of iron to make it worthwhile. With that amount a suit of armor should be trivial. BTW what do you guys play on? Normal, hard?

Iron picks, which is like 55% faster and needed for most high level stuff. minecart tracks and buckets.

you can make like 16 picks with a suit of iron armore and never use stone. which is so much better.

Wait until you go to hard mode, and they're all on spiders.

They (skeletons) are easy to sidestep, provided you have plenty of room to do so. Unfortunately they tend to spawn in caves where there's not much room to move around. Easier to make a eye-level block to stop them then swipe at their feet.

Preferences aside, iron picks while faster are not necessary for removing stone, only gold/diamond/redstone/obsidian which you are unlikely to find in such abundance that 16 picks are needed. Minecarts and tracks are not incredibly convienient, mostly because of the amount of iron needed to make them worthwhile. Buckets are very good tools, but once you make a water source or two, multiple ones have less use apart from hauling tons of lava around.

As far as preferences go, if mining a large open room iron picks are quite nice, but the 1-2 second difference is negligible. Having only used minecarts once, for fun, I don't know how useful the new types are but if you don't travel far across the world I can't see any of them being that great.

Its Aquaphobia, he's referring to what i said about swimming and an earlier conversation we had about both of us being afraid of the water

and on that note, since ive been playing minecraft the aquaphobia has gotten a bit better, what with there being just so much of it that it kind of needs to be dealt with at some point, and if im not mistaken iron armor is the heaviest, thus making your few encounters with it (say, being down in a cave and having the only way out be waterfall climbing) all the more dreadful

as for the iron I'd probably spend it all on tools and buckets, remember that lava fuels ovens

i suppose if you play on hard iron armor might be a good idea, i only play on easy at best right now (spending a lot more time building random crap in my peaceful/hacked world) and i figure im better off just restoring whatever health i lose with my fishing (anyone else build a pond just for that yet?)
