After so long I finally have a game of Minecraft to call my very own, and I can't say I'm disappointed with it.

Awesome worm, remember the rules of survival:
  • Don't dig down
  • find coal night 1
  • Don't dig up
  • creepers survive in daylight
I'm sure there's more, can't think of much right now though.

Dont hit calm spiders without a sword.
Dont come into contact with said calm spiders.
Ghasts CAN spawn in the real world near active portals. (My wood house is not standing anymore)
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSave your resources.
Use mob spawners to harvest feathers/arrows/string.
In caves watch your back when mining diamonds.

  • If you cant find coal night one make a lovely dirt fortress that fits only your body (this happened to me)
  • Build close to your spawn (same game as above I got lost looking for coal, got creeper'd after finding a place to build a house, took an hour with a cartograph map to get back)
  • Dont Be A Kat; Watch your ass around lava

Actually the best solution for a non-coal night is to take down all the trees you can and stock up on cobble. Then smelt tons of smooth stone using wood as a fuel source. Also, leave an open roof so you can tell when the sun comes out.

I haven't built around the spawn point until the last couple months, I always wandered until I found a nice cave to start in. Building little shacks along the way as needed.

Don't bother asking, that's a bot.

Anyway, if short on materials sometimes your only chance is to dig a grave hidey-hole. I made a pretty interesting one two blocks down, leaving a space open to either side so I could smack enemies, with wool blocks on top. This was after dying and trying to get back to where I was.

Also, I wondered if anybody else has noticed the mobs having a longer reach now? I think zombies had been able to get you from one full block away before, but creepers used to not detonate unless they were closer than one block. So if it was diagonal from you it would start hissing, but across a block it wouldn't. Well, they do now, almost took my stupid wall apart.

you know this rules would make sense to a newb right?

by don't dig down, we mean don't dig UNDER YOUR FEET,  if you want to go down make stares.

Coal is the black stuff in the rocks, torchs can be made by sticking a coal over sticks. they keep bad guys away. Spam them like there is now tommrow. becuse there isn't with out light.

By down dig up, we mean don't dig a space over your head (a zomibe, lava, sketlon, a creeper could fall on your head)

creepers are four leged things, they like to explode. they are green if you see one. leave.

Oh, so they are purple or something before you see them? No, really, that's what I thought when I read that, and I have played minecrafty for months.  Sad

Also, they aren't that tough alone. You can handle one easily with a stone sword, two may be cause for running as they could easily flank you. But it all depends on your surroundings and even then with the ability to place blocks it's easy enough to stop them. Skeletons are the ones with too much power to deal with most of the time.

Also also, I was assuming he wasn't a total boon since he's seen everybody else talking about the game and probably seen some videos. So for uberboon sake:

  • Don't run around at night, it's full of death
  • Once you have enough iron (7-8) make some armor, before iron use leather from dead cows
  • Don't be afraid to explore, it can be quite fruitful, just keep your base in mind and leave markers behind
  • Deeper is not always better, some ores are found in higher quantities at higher elevations (meaning less deep, not up on mountains)

No they are not.

And how would you know if they are?

sorry but this is bad advice, you should never make iron armmor, there are so much better things to make with iron.

so Strip Mining would be a practical solution?

Also, I have yet to buy the game.

There's a few practical methods for effective mining, the Minepedia has some suggestions.

And Mars, how useful are those tools while you lie in a pile of blood and gore under a spider's fangs, or skele's clickety heels?
