I wanna know about those gold-ish blocks in the pocket realm though. It said six new block types and all but one with new features. So we know the red rock has eternal combustion, I wonder what else is planned?

What I'm also foggy on is the compression feature of this new realm. Let's say you place a portal just near your home on a sea shore. Go X blocks forward in there and create a new portal. If that's to open above the ocean will it be underwater? Floating above it? Will this realm actually mimic the landscape of the normal world in smaller scale? Hurry up Halloween!

also I like how i get more enjoyment out of doing everything but play it, still need to make a tileset though, anyone have any suggestions on what to base it off of?

So I officially despise spiders more than anything in the whole Minecraft world now. Just spent way too much time trying to get a freaking mob spawner farmed. One thing worked, another went wrong, repeat ad nauseum. Literally. It's finally working, but not 100% still walked away with about 40 string, though I can't stand to look at the things anymore. Suffice to say my trade will be shifting toward bowyer, and maybe supply some fishing rods or cloth.

Simple fix, surround your portal with pillars 3 blocks from each other. They supposedly spawn in 5sq area, maybe 4. I'd be more worried about the ones who will be chasing you screaming, soiled-pants toward the exit portal, only to see it blown apart by the fireball that screams over your head as you come within inches of salvation. Man, it's gonna be fun!

Heh, you're all assuming the Ghast will spawn at the portal.  It could spawn within 15 blocks of it for all you now.

Yeah, that's the other problem. I guess you could start near it and expand outward if you keep having problems. At least he said rarely, gives you some kind of chance. I keep thinking of the Oblivion gates and the madness that erupted around them once you were close enough.
