Shoppy all the way. He, more than anything else in the game, best represents the risk/reward analysis that lies at Spelunky's heart -- do you ignore his shop completely, saving your money for something better down the line? Do you buy an item, increasing your chances of making it farther in the game but possibly screwing yourself out of the Ankh? Do you steal what you want, dodge both that Shopkeeper and the one waiting for you at the end of the next level, and play it safe from then on out? Or do you go for broke, kill the bastard, steal everything, and spend the rest of the game as a wanted man?
How you deal with Shoppy pretty much sets the tone for the entire game.

Jiang Shi.
Whenever I think of short, blue-skinned zombies wearing royal chinese robes, either Spelunky comes to mind, or Super Mario Land.

When shopkeepers finally gain the intelligence to use their shop items to bring the spelunker down, then we can truly fear shopkeeps.

Theyre in mario? I think of Dalkstalkers when I think of jiang shi They are indeed in SML. While they might not have had the color-set at the time, I read a few SML FAQ's, and they confirmed that the short, jumping zombies (with ponytails aswell if I recall correctly), where indeed Jiang Shi. Is DarkStalkers a good game? I've heard alot about it.

Theyre in mario? Ah, that's right! They're in the extremely forgettable Game Boy Mario game 'Super Mario Land', as the post before said. You could squish them, but they get back up a few moments later! Truly a terrifying foe.
