Y'know if y'all are getting the hang of game maker then you should try and expand your horizons.
The GML syntax is really similar to that of more professional languages, find some tutorials online and it wouldn't be too hard of a jump. I mean it won't be a cake walk but the investment would definitely be worth it.

you really should put words in my mouth dude, not cool.
Y'know if y'all are getting the hang of game maker then you should try and expand your horizons.

Well if you feel that way sure why not. I honestly am working on a tactics game right now but meh.

I am just kinda pissed at  halibabica for puting words in my mouth still

I am wiling and have worked with other types of coding before, and honestly would be willing to help some one make this, but not do it myself or I would spread myself to thin

Honestly, even if it was in a coding langqich I knew nothing about I could still help with story, sprites, music, conspet, testing...

not all game making is coding

Although you do need a hell of a lot of work put into balance, and of course the best ways to translate Spelunky into a rather different form.

I can tell that mars doesn't want to, and I'm not too crazy about true rogue-likes, so unless you or someone else is willing to make it (we'd still help where you need it, just neither of us are willing to commit fully to it), theres not much point in making a new thread for it.

HI GUYS! GUESS WHAT?! I'M ALIVE!

I've been gone for so long! So much has happened! I need to keep up with all of this. I'm sorry, I love you all.

And I would say I'd be willing to work on such a thing but I'm not really skilled with programming. I'm moderately familiar with RPG Maker, I could probably kind of help work on something, though I don't know what exactly I could contribute. Keep me updated.

Have missed you guys, school has been hell though.

P.S.: I'm big on Roguelikes, I would love a legit Spelunky RL.

I don't think those are very good reasons to resort to an RPG making platform for this.  I don't know any actual programming languages, but really, is scripting Spelunky into Ruby gonna be any easier than something that would handle the end product better?
