i wouldnt know, BUT spelunky totally made some references to it (the ghost at least) and it is a spelunkylike game on the nes, mars never said it had to be good. if someone asked for a game where you could break dance midair, but didnt say it had to be a good game then you could totally recommend sonic '06

A stupid controller that matches up to the original Nes controller almost perfectly and thus suits Spelunky very well

Mars. Late. Besides, the GCN controller is seldom supported, and would be like the 360/PS3 layouts any way, plus wiimote support is required any way so you know it needs its own lay out regardless, or it would if it were released on wii.
Also hey, what about Spelunky on Smartphones? How much of a total mess would that be?
