I know I'm not helping the community out what with my brief periods of coming in then leaving then returning and so on, but it appears that our small puddle of a community is succumbing to evaporation.

It's the fact that few updates are being done to Spelunky and what-not... I've tried contacting Derek through Twitter and... other means about Spelunky 1,2 (pretty groundbreaking) but he just doesn't reply... and that's the problem.
It was a pretty bustling (small, still) forum community a couple of months ago, what happened?!

Oh, it's not dying at all. This forum is basically Spelunky community center. And all details about Spelunky what worth to be known are described into wiki, almost everyone have done "City of Gold run" or finally give up to try, most of good ideas already implemented in custom levels or mods. Things just calmed down.
But just you wait until Spelunky XBLA release.

I dunno, I know I'VE lost most of my interest. I mean, you come here, you move on, you know? I guess it's natural, I mean it's not like we'll always have the same main characters in this forum, e.g. eguee, MGG. They'll get older, move on, and if they really do stay that long, Spelunky will pretty much be long gone.
It's been what, a year for me? And I'm bored. I been doing summer stuff, and got StarCraft 2 (hey, you guys heard of the release? Like last week, what?) and... Bored.

Of course the community is dying. Spelunky is not a very interesting topic now, It's been here for about a year and a half. In addition, there have been no major updates, or any at all, that keep the users here. The best we can hope for is the XBLA release bringing in some new people.
