Yeah. Once I paid for the shortcut, I turned into Spelunky until I reached the door, where I turned back into Tunnel Man.

Well, you can't really pay yourself to make the tunnel... can you? Why not just make it when you reach an area where the tunnel man is supposed to be, have a bag or something there, and just dump it in? Makes more sense.

I think it must be assumed they are already made if you've unlocked him. Though, if it were really warranted, you could just have a bag or chest with a message reading, " I should make a shortcut here, but I'll need to save some money first" or something along those lines.

Maybe getting all the shortcuts should be another requirement for the Tunnel Man?
It's pretty unlikely that you've gotten every trophy without having gotten the shortcuts as well so... yeah. And maybe the shortcut man won't be willing to go into the caves himself until his work is done!

I think the possibility should be left open though. Another idea could be you meet Spelunky there, who asks for donations to buy some bombs in order to clear a tunnel. Still, unlikely it would happen, but since all the challenges require a single play-through, it's probably possible.

Actually I find the gold-standard a bit too low. I mean, 120 kills? 7 minutes? 200 freaking thousand?
The only one that is actually challenging to get is the damsels challenge. We really need platinum trophies and deluxe extra rooms.

I'll know if I have beat the requirements if I ever get 9 damsel saves, 121 kills, 200,025 money, or a time under 1:51. (I wanted to see Olmec. :V)
