Argh, I always hate being judged but I understand your concerns halibabica...
For starters, you needed to hide the Spring Shoes, not the Jordans.
Whoops!
Secondly, the player starts the level with the Web Cannon, Climbing Gloves, and Parachute (so they won't need to find them again in the level itself).
Well, this was precisely the rule I had to 'bend'. The [relative] uniqueness of the level called for it. Is it going to be okay? You should understand what I mean, especially if you've played Final Fantasy games, for example! What I mean by that is how strictly linear the level is. I even put calories on every jump required for heaven's sake.
So will you allow me to bend the rules you've set
just a bit? This is truly important for the level, and it would work better this way. It would still work with the items being given at the beginning of course... but it just wouldn't feel right.
I believe there isn't enough space to do such a thing. I know spikes hanging in mid-air are unattractive, but it works. How exactly were you able to get around the spikes near the, erm, Jordans (really sorry for that)?
Also, your proposed plan I believe would hardly fit in the map. Moving everything to the right would obviously cause another problem (that the problem would be able to jump straight down to the floor with the bats and exit.
I originally planned to make a second path that branches off so the player can jump downwards to the ladder, but I thought that would cause too much confusion and went with a minor riddle instead, the one which you experienced.
And, finally, could you please remove the swearing? It really isn't necessary.
I will, I felt like it really wasn't necessary as well.
Finally (
important), how many blocks high does the jump need to be? I want the jump to only possibly be done with the spring shoes. This includes not being able to do the jump with a normal run-jump, or that would defeat the purpose of the stage. I'm not prepared to look through the source code to find out, so I was hoping
the man who made this modification (you) could shine some light on this.
By the way, converting the level to ice shouldn't be too hard. I'll get right on it after I finish fine-tuning the level.
I'm honestly pretty glad with myself; it's obviously not the typical Spelunky trek through a cave, and I am still a bit stunned that you let this linear madness of a level through...
