I think he's noting the fact that the Spelunker speaks of his father, then later uses the pronoun "her". It appears as though he is calling his father female because he fails to adequately name the person "her" would apply to, like his mother or lady friend.

Huh, maybe it wasn't an actual topic, but I definitely remember going over it before. What I always read it as was his father telling him to go find his lost love or something like that. Like some red-dressed blonde woman with an affinity for being eternally lost in an ever-changing cave system... Or what Mars said. |
