More on this. When I used a different account on the same computer to play spelunky (my girlfriends account) and she didnt change the save files. She got the "Addicted" achievement after one life since it had my save data with over 1000 lives.

This really breaks the experience for new players if playing on a computer with saves already present. Can't remove the achievement when it's been recieved.

I'm sure this has been asked many times before. Can't stress it enough tho, should be easy enough to implement and is really a requirement for modern games.

I play on multiple PCs and it's a pain to move around save files.

Recently I got my girlfriend to like spelunky so I got it for her on steam, but it's hard to get her to change around save files and ofcourse she needs her own progression when I've got a few hundred hours of playtime.

You should really just do it! Cheers on the awesome game Smiley

Agreed. They should also add support for steam cloud on save files. I use two PCs for my gaming and it's a real hassle to move save files. Sure I can use dropbox but thats a hassle to setup too.
Recently it's even more of a hassle since I got my girlfriend to start playing it, but she wants her own progression ofcourse so I got it for her on steam, but since it doesn't support steam cloud she has to swap the saves even tho shes logged in to her account. Feels like we're back in the 90's.

Awesome that there was an editor already tho! I'd google around without finding anything that worked. I tried it out and made some really fun levels! But would be so much better if it was built in from the start, and had challange levels with leaderboards for them. Would be so much fun to try out the most popular ones and try to beat the highscores for them.
4  Games / Spelunky Support / Achievement "Good Teamwork" recieved even tho shortcuts were used. on: April 07, 2014, 06:03:46 AM
I'm sure this bug has been reported before somewhere but I couldn't find it.

I just killed olmec with a friend starting from the temple level and I got the "good teamwork" achievement on steam even tho it says "no shortcuts".

Reproduce: Started as 3 players from temple level. 2 players alive when olmec dies and enter exit. Achievement "Good Teamwork" achieved.

Thanks for this awesome game Derek & Andy!
5  Games / Spelunky / Multiplayer Suggestions on: April 07, 2014, 05:59:27 AM
After about 150 hours into the game so far I've got some suggestions which I think could improve the game greatly on the mutliplayer front without changing altering the design of the already perfect singleplayer.

These suggestions would give this already great game potential to live much longer.

1. Tournament mode for Deathmatch.
Add any amount of players to a roster, choose how many players for each match (2-4), how many sets per match, etc. Game creates a tournament tree and automatically moves winners/loosers correctly for an ultimate final and winner in the end. Would be great for house parties and lan parties, we already have tournaments on our lan parties and this would make it much better!

2. Level editor for custom multiplayer maps
simple enough to implement and would be very fun. I'm sure this has been suggested many times. Also for suggestion below
If this is too much work: Please at least add easy support for map files like spelunky classic, so we can make maps in notepad and so that we can build our own editor. I'll seriously code it myself.

3. Challange levels.
Sure spelunky is about generated levels, but it would be great if there was hand made challenge maps which players could compete for on speed. Generally designed to have difficult situations, jumps, enemies, bosses, shopkeepers, item usages, etc.
Custom leaderboard for each map. Would benefit greatly if there was a level editor so players could create their own custom challange levels and submit them for online play in an easy way, and most popular maps are easily instantly played from a list online. Like the portal 2 editor + workshop did for portal 2. Amazingly big community because of it, and easy enough for anyone.
Could have custom win properties like "must kill all enemies to exit map", "must collect all treasure", "must hold item x", etc

Finally, just thanks for an awesome game! This game is easily one of the best games for many years which actually has enough replay-ability to live for many years to come. Way too many games these days are just designed to be fun for one playthrough or so. Kinda hate myself tho, was working on a similar game a few years ago which never was completed, wish I had! Not sure I could have made it this awesome tho. Thanks Derek & Andy! /Jonte
