The trailer is fantastic.

Late response, but thanks.

How does this look as an ice replacement? I'm not entirely sure...
For some reason, I'm having a hard time remembering it's the ice and get slipped. Looks cool though, especially because of the normal map which gives it a metallic look.

Yeah, that's a good point. It's not very ice-like...maybe if it was shinier, it'd be more visibly "slippery".

how do you get rid of that icy shine on ice textures when you replace it? you seem to have kept the sparkle but got rid of the shine on the ice somehow

Change it to suit your needs. I gave the ice a really dulled shine, since it's not ice, it's worn out metal.

I thought Bushland A.K.A GrassTown would be more suitable for Jungle, but the current one is not bad either. I wonder what you might do to the ice in the third area.
I'm not entirely sure myself. If I can figure out how to edit bumpmaps without making them look like garbage, I might make the ice just a bright blue, shiny, icey-ish version of the main tiles, I dunno.

Anyway keep on the good work. Are you replacing the main dude with Quote or what? Damsel will be Curly Brace?
I'm considering it, yeah. Same for Damsel. Though I don't know yet. Making it look right will take some work, for sure.
Also, I remember your name. Seeing you after a long time.
Yeah I made the Pug and Damsel player mods when modding first became a thing. It's been awhile since then, cool that you remember me though!

Any way this could get added to the compendium?

V.1

WATCH THIS FIRST.

WHAT IS THIS?!
This is a mod that changes Spelunky's tileset to match CaveStory's, more or less. The mod is unfinished but 3 areas are already done, with others being worked on at the moment.
You can also download the custom music set, which replaces (almost) all the music with CaveStory music, both from the games and the various remixes floating about.

HMM?Huh? WHAT?Huh?
Oh yeah you need to own Spelunky first. It's pretty cheap on Steam and it's a great game, go geddit.

HOW DO I INSTALL?Huh?
For music: drop the folder contained in your .zip into your C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Spelunky\Data folder.

For tiles: Drop the contents of the .zip inside the texture folder.
Drag the alltex.wad over Extract.bat
Merge the contents of the alltex folder that came with the zip with the new alltex folder.
Drag the new alltex folder over Repack.bat
If done correctly, it should now contain the new sprites.

DOWNLAOD?!?!?!??!?!
Download the tiles and sprites.
Download the music.

WHAT HAS BEEN DONE:
First Section.
Second Section.
Third Section.
SOME OF the Fourth Section.
Pot Sprite has been replaced.
Nearly all music has been replaced.

Enjoy! Tell me what you think, what needs to be changed, and what suggestions you may have.

http://goo.gl/xCzVbW I messed around with making it more classic, I think it turned out pretty well.
P.S. Sorry to everyone who liked the sideways tile border.

Did anyone like the sideways tile border?

I think now that it actually looks like the classic version it's way better then what it was.

It has been confirmed by Derek.

It took us nearly 2 weeks (13 days to be precise) but we finally found out the secret of the Eggplant

Well people were trying to find out the mystery before the PC release, but not as actively.

Also, it's not my video. I just found it. All credit goes to the video creator etc

I'M NOT GONNA TELL YOU WHAT HAPPENS BUT YOU'LL BE SORRY THAT YOU DIDN'T WATCH IT

http://goo.gl/W0MHPb Started replacing a few items, a friend made the level border texture, though it's a WIP like everything else.

That border looks like a higher resolution then the dirt, it's bothering me.

I made a Pug player mod.

and a Damsel player mod.

Figured you'd all enjoy them.
15  Games / Spelunky / Re: PC Modding!?!? on: August 11, 2013, 03:22:29 PM
haha woops I did it again

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0CkXA2xpgk

I always wanted to play as the Pug, you know..
Oh
My
GOD!
ME TOO Cheesy
XD love your work so far

Thanks. There's a very small amount of image editing on my part, but it's kind-of difficult to make sure all the frames match up *perfectly*...and even then they don't. The problem is that the Damsel and Pug lack most of the required animations, meaning I have to improvise somewhat. But that's fine.

But it makes me wonder, though. If you can replace all the tiles, sprites and sounds, could you make Spelunky HD resemble the classic spelunky?
